Ten years have passed since the last Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game was released. At long last, Rockstar Games released the GTA 6 trailer today (Dec. 5), bringing back a franchise that has a special place in many people’s hearts. The trailer has already gained over 84 million views in about 24 hours, beating Mr. Beast’s record. Many are curious about the song in the highly-anticipated game’s trailer.

The song in the GTA 6 trailer is called “Love Is A Long Road.” It’s performed by American rock artist Tom Petty (aka Thomas Earl Petty), whose most famous hits include “American Girl,” “Free Fallin’,” “I Won’t Back Down,” and many more. He and guitarist Mike Campbell (aka Michael W. Campbell) wrote “
Love Is A Long Road,” which appears on Petty’s 1989 album “Full Moon Fever.”

The chaos in the GTA 6 trailer perfectly matches the lyrics of “Love Is A Long Road.” We are briefly introduced to the first female protagonist, Lucia, who seems to be in a relationship with a man named Jason. It’s evident that Bonnie and Clyde inspire the couple as they’re seen robbing a store near the end of the video.

There have been some GTA 6 leaks in the past, which included a video of Lucia sneaking into a place before robbing it and another showing Jason and Lucia at a club. Those leaks are no longer available.

There’s no release date for GTA 6 yet. We only know it will come out sometime in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
