Liverpool vs Manchester City Match Analysis and Prediction

Liverpool and Manchester City will face off at the King Power Stadium in the annual English football curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, on Saturday night.

Man City held off a strong challenge from Liverpool for the title, with the Reds pushing the race to be decided on the final day where City came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-2 and thus winning the Premier League title by just a point.

This season the two have bolstered their squad options by significant strengthening and it could be another close call between them.

Man City invested over £100 million to sign Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips from Borussia Dortmund and Leeds United, although they have seen the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Rahim Sterling, Fernandinho and Alexander Zinchenko depart the club.

Meanwhile, Liverpool splashed out a cool £85 million to land Darwin Nunez from Benfica, and have also seen the arrival of two hot prospects in Calvin Ramsay and Fabio Carvalho from Aberdeen and Fulham respectively, while they have lost Sadio Mane to Bayern. Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi also left Anfield this summer.

Although the Community Shield is may have lost its appeal in the recent years, the Saturday clash is much anticipated as it will give a little insight of how the title race is going to be.
