Microsoft Flight Simulator F-22 Raptor Gets New Screenshots; Catania Fontanarossa & Sapporo New Chitose Airports Released

Today third-party developers had new assets and releases to share about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Top Mach Studios released the first screenshots of its upcoming payware F-22 Raptor.

The developer is already well-known for its freeware F-22 that can be found on FlightSim.to, and promised a high-quality release with “many exciting and unique new features and capabilities.”

What we can see here certainly looks appealing, but we hear that it’s still work-in-progress and not representative of the final product. Beta testing should begin at the end of the month.

Beautiful Models of the World released a new rendition of Catania Fontanarossa Airport (LICC) in Italy.

It’s available on Simmarket for approximately $12 plus applicable VAT, with the following features.

  • Realistic ground markings,
  • Stunning night effects,
  • High detailed airport,
  • Excellent frame rates,
  • PBR materials,
  • Static jetways (planned to be animated in future updates)

Prospective buyers should keep in mind that the airport will also be released within the developers’ growing all-access collection which includes 25 airports (counting Catania) for a €28 one-time payment, promising more to come down the line. That’s likely a much better deal compared to the single purchase.

It’s worth mentioning that this is a completely different product from the one we reported about a few weeks ago.

Lastly, a rendition of Sapporo New Chitose Airport (RJCC) has been released on SimMarket by DominicDesignTeam.

It costs approximately $21 plus applicable VAT and promises the following.

  • PBR Textures
  • Dynamic Lighting
  • Real Ground Markings
  • Custom, painstakingly hand-crafted pavement, showcasing all imperfections including dirt
  • Custom jetway

On a personal note, we report this release due to the newsworthy nature of a major airport, but this doesn’t mean we recommend its purchase. The quality showcased by the screenshots provide certainly appears mediocre, and previous purchases of this developer’s products solidify that impression, especially in relation to the price and considering that a freeware alternative exists.

Recently, we published our latest interview with head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann and we heard more about Microsoft’s plans for the next few months, including World Update Australia.
