Minecraft: 5 Deep Dark Seeds

image

The deep dark is one of two new biomes added as part of the Minecraft 1.19 Wild Update. Unlike the other biome, the mangrove swamp, this is an underground cave biome, which generates beneath low-erosion surface biomes, such as mountains. Deep dark caves can be easily identified by their dark blue sculk blocks that line the cave walls, and the surprising lack of enemies that spawn within.

Aside from the sculk blocks that players may be looking to collect for building, deep dark caves are also home to Ancient Cities, which have some of the best natural loot available in all of Minecraft. These cities contain dangerous Wardens that are one of the deadliest mobs in the game, so players should be adequately prepared before tackling them. Every one of these seeds listed will work on both Java and Bedrock.

Eight Cities Directly Below Spawn

Seed: -1522717388036019981

For players who are looking for quick loot, this is the seed to use. Players will spawn in a sparse jungle, directly overtop a deep dark cave. While digging straight down is generally ill-advised in Minecraft, because of the fear of mining into lava, players can safely dig straight down at X: 103, Z: 205, right into an Ancient City. This deep dark biome is absolutely massive, being more than 2400 blocks long and 2800 blocks wide, featuring eight Ancient Cities in total. The exact locations of all eight cities are:

  • X: 103, Y: -51, Z: 205
  • X: -216, Y: -51, Z: 56
  • X: -232, Y: -51, Z: 568
  • X: 104, Y: -51, Z: 856
  • X: -264, Y: -51, Z: 888
  • X: -648, Y: -51, Z: 872
  • X: -920, Y: -51, Z: 520
  • X: -1016, Y: -51, Z: 120

Unfortunately, the world surface doesn’t have too much going for it near spawn, so this seed is primarily geared towards the cave-dwelling sorts. The nearest point of interest at the surface would be at X: -792, Z: -776, where a Savanna Village can be found oddly close to a Pillage Outpost, not even 70 blocks away.

13 Cities Directly Below Spawn

Seed: -1942833282418150206

Players will load into a dark forest that sits directly above the far west reaches of a large deep dark cave. This cave is around 2500 blocks wide, 2100 blocks long, and features 13 Ancient Cities. It will be a bit of a walk to get to the nearest city, though the deep dark biome that contains them is right beneath the player’s feet at spawn. The locations of the Ancient Cities are:

  • X: 616, Y: -51, Z: 504
  • X: 456, Y: -51, Z: 104
  • X: 584, Y: -51, Z: -184
  • X: 872, Y: -51, Z: -248
  • X: 888, Y: -51, Z: 168
  • X: 1224, Y: -51, Z: 584
  • X: 1672, Y: -51, Z: 200
  • X: 1208, Y: -51, Z: 104
  • X: 1304, Y: -51, Z: -248
  • X: 1368, Y: -51, Z: -648
  • X: 1688, Y: -51, Z: -644
  • X: 2024, Y: -51, Z: -600
  • X: 2072, Y: -51, Z: -360

From spawn, players can reach the deep dark quite easily without needing to even mine a single block. The cavern opening at X: 200, Z: 200 leads into a massive cave system that extends all the way down to a sculk cluster via a very convenient underground waterfall.

13 Cities, Nine Villages, And Two Strongholds

Seed: 8629890794421353063

Players spawn directly above an incredibly loaded deep dark biome. More than 2500 blocks long and 2800 blocks wide, this huge deep dark contains a whopping 13 Ancient Cities, as well as two strongholds. Players can safely dig straight down at X: 0, Z: 0 to find the first of these Ancient Cities directly below their spawn point in jagged peaks. The coordinates of all 13 cities are:

  • X: 0, Y: -51, Z: 0
  • X: 488, Y: -51, Z: -184
  • X: 152, Y: -51, Z: -696
  • X: -296, Y: -51, Z: -248
  • X: -936, Y: -51, Z: -184
  • X: -600, Y: -51, Z: 168
  • X: -312, Y: -51, Z: 120
  • X: -312, Y: -51, Z: 488
  • X: 136, Y: -51, Z: 552
  • X: 536, Y: -51, Z: 472
  • X: 168, Y: -51, Z: 1000
  • X: -296, Y: -51, Z: 952
  • X: -152, Y: -51, Z: 1336

Also within this biome, albeit less deep, are two strongholds, located at X: -861, Y: 35, Z: 628 and X: 804, Y: -16, Z: 645. What’s extra neat is the fact that both of these strongholds spawn directly beneath villages. These villages are just two of the nine that span the area of the deep dark biome. The locations of all nine are:

  • X: 696, Z: -1048 (Plains Village)
  • X: 120, Z: -808 (Taiga Village)
  • X: -392, Z: -312 (Plains Village)
  • X: 296, Z: 216 (Taiga Village)
  • X: -861, Z: 628 (Taiga Village over stronghold)
  • X: 804, Z: 645 (Plains Village over stronghold)
  • X: 1176, Z: 1256 (Taiga Village)
  • X: 56, Z: 1400 (Snowy Village)
  • X: -936, Z: 1208 (Taiga Village)

Double Ancient City Directly Beneath Village

Seed: -6240354873393047098

This is a very interesting seed and may be better cut out for players who don’t want to be overwhelmed by massive amounts of cities and villages that need to be looted. This seed spawns players in a plains biome, just northeast of a decently sized deep dark cave system. This cave system features three Ancient Cities, though two of these cities are actually merged with one another. While most cities have just one reinforced deepslate frame structure, this merged city features two.

The double city is a bit of a walk away, but can be located directly beneath the Plains Village at X: -376, Z: 888. This village features a massive cove opening at X: -420, Z: 825 that extends all the way down to the double Ancient City, making for very easy access. If players want to check out something closer to spawn first, there is a village located at X: -268, Z: 126. Standing at those exact coordinates, players can safely dig straight down into another Ancient City.

20 Ancient Cities, 13 Villages, And A Stronghold

Seed: 8323045963406788135

In stark contrast to the previous seed, this one is perfect for players who love to be overwhelmed by their worlds. This astounding seed features a deep dark biome near spawn that includes 20 Ancient Cities and a stronghold underground, while directly above the deep dark at the surface, 13 villages can be found. This deep dark cave does not generate directly beneath players, so they’ll need to walk a bit, but it is so worth it.

The biome is only around 2000 blocks wide, but it is an incredible 8000 blocks long. Players should begin by making their way to the Ancient City at X: -2152, Y: -51, Z: 1304, as this is the southernmost one, then they can work their way north. The coordinates of the 20 Ancient Cities are:

  • X: -2152, Y: -51, Z: 1304
  • X: -2184, Y: -51, Z: 840
  • X: -2584, Y: -51, Z: 888
  • X: -2616, Y: -51, Z: 552
  • X: -3048, Y: -51, Z: 88
  • X: -3240, Y: -51, Z: -168
  • X: -2504, Y: -51, Z: -1064
  • X: -1832, Y: -51, Z: -1144
  • X: -2136, Y: -51, Z: -1528
  • X: -2200, Y: -51, Z: -1864
  • X: -2216, Y: -51, Z: -2168
  • X: -1752, Y: -51, Z: -1816
  • X: -1800, Y: -51, Z: -2216
  • X: -1880, Y: -51, Z: -2616
  • X: -2536, Y: -51, Z: -3320
  • X: -1880, Y: -51, Z: -3672
  • X: -1864, Y: -51, Z: -4536
  • X: -1768, Y: -51, Z: -5224
  • X: -2456, Y: -51, Z: -5944
  • X: -1864, Y: -51, Z: -6472

That isn’t all this deep dark has in store. A stronghold can be found at X: -2156, Y: 53, Z: -908, and a plethora of villages can be found above the deep dark at surface level, mostly along the borders of the biome. The exact locations of these villages, from south to north, are:

  • X: -3544, Z: 1288 (Plains Village)
  • X: -3080, Z: 1224 (Plains Village)
  • X: -3080, Z: 760 (Plains Village)
  • X: -2904, Z: 232 (Plains Village)
  • X: -2504, Z: 264 (Plains Village)
  • X: -1464, Z: -728 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -1464, Z: -1368 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -1352, Z: -2040 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -1608, Z: -2648 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -1832, Z: -2680 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -2552, Z: -3080 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -2968, Z: -3032 (Savanna Village)
  • X: -1976, Z: -5384 (Plains Village)

This will no doubt take a lot of work to hit every one of these locations, but the sheer amount of loot that will come from it is well worth the effort. This seed as a whole is jampacked with natural structures to explore, so if players are still wanting to ransack more, explore this seed in Chunkbase to find locations of more villages, cities, mansions, and more.
