In a game that will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network, Penn State is a six-point favorite. The Nittany Lions are -255 on the moneyline, giving them an expected win probability of 71.83%.

Sitting 86th in the NET Rankings, Penn State is not among the 68-team field in the latest March Madness bracket projection and it’s a virtual certainty they will not get an at-large bid unless they bring their Big Ten record over .500.

Minnesota Betting Outlook

Minnesota is 11-12 against the spread this season and 5-4 on the road.

Despite leading 25-23 at halftime at Ohio State, the Golden Gophers wound up getting blown out. The Buckeyes outscored Minnesota 47-20 in the second half.

Senior guard Luke Loewe led Minnesota with 12 points. He has scored in double figures in four of the last five games after doing so just twice in the previous eight games.

Sophomore forward Jamison Battle was the only other Golden Gopher to reach double digits as he finished with 11 points. Battle is averaging a team-high 16.5 points a game and 6.3 rebounds.

Senior guard Payton Willis is stuffing the stat sheet with averages of 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.6 steals. He is fourth in the Big Ten in steals.

Another Minnesota player with a double-figure scoring average is senior guard Eylijah “EJ” Stephens at 10.5.

Minnesota shot just 30.8% (16 of 52) on Tuesday while making 5 of 19 (26.3%) from three-point range.

In the second half, the Gophers shot just 27.3% to Ohio State’s 57.1%. Minnesota scored just one field goal in the last 10:50.

Penn State Betting Outlook

Penn State is on a bit of a roll ATS-wise, going 4-1 in its last five games. Overall, the Nittany Lions are 12-10 overall and 7-5 at home.

Penn State’s leading scorer, junior forward Seth Lundy, is beginning to heat up after having some recent scoring struggles. He scored a game-high 17 points against Michigan State, his second straight double-figure game after being held to single digits in two of the previous five games.

Lundy is averaging 13.1 points and 5.5 rebounds.

Senior forward John Harrar had his seventh double-double of the season but just second in the last 12 games by scoring 16 points and pulling down a season-high 16 rebounds.

Harrar is second in the conference and 18th nationally with a 9.7 rebounding average. He is also scoring 10.5 points a game.

Senior guard Jalen Pickett scored in double figures for the 14th time in the last 15 games. He wound up contributing 10 points, three assists and three steals.

Pickett has been a steady presence in the backcourt with averages of 12.6 points, 4.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds. Another senior guard, Sam Sessoms, is averaging 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Penn State rallied from a 14-point deficit with 13:22 left for the win despite shooting just 39.3% (22 of 56).

Minnesota vs Penn State Prediction

In Saturday’s game, Minnesota senior forward Eric Curry scored a career-high 22 points while Willis had 18 points, 10 assists and six rebounds and Stephens chipped in with 13 points. Sessoms topped Penn State with 18 points, five rebounds and three steals and Lundy scored 16 points.

The Golden Gophers have won six of the last eight games in the series but have lost their last six conference road games. Penn State has won three of their last four Big Ten games in State College and are primed to get revenge for last weekend’s loss.
