San Diego Studios revealed the MLB The Show 22 cover athlete and it is none other than Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani.
San Diego Studios also coupled the cover athlete reveal with the announcement of the franchise heading to the Nintendo Switch for the first time. The cover showcases what makes Ohtani the mega star that he is in baseball. Not only is he a dominant power hitter, but he’s also a top level pitcher. Most would agree this was the right, and only, choice for the next cover athlete.
Ohtani had an unreal 2021 season hitting a career-high 46 home runs, winning his first MVP award, Silver Slugger and his first All-Star appearance.
One of the most exciting announcements from the reveal was cross-platform progression. Cross-platform play was introduced in MLB The Show 21, but now players can take their saves to any other platform and progress along the same account. A game-changer, especially for Diamond Dynasty fans.
MLB The Show 22 is now available for pre-order on the PlayStation 4, 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
MLB The Show 22 releases April 5 on all the platforms mentioned.
