MSI 2024 Schedule, Standings and How to Watch

The first big international League of Legends event is about to start, so here’s the MSI 2024 schedule, standings, how to watch and every other info you need to know!

All of the Winter and Spring Splits of the biggest regional League of Legends tournaments have concluded! This means that the first big international tournament, the Mid-Season Invitational is upon us, starting on the first day of May! The 12 current best teams of the world are all eager to prove themselves in Chengdu, China and earn the first place, which means automatic qualification to the 2024 League of Legends World Championship – so the MSI is finally worth something! Here’s everything you need to know about the Mid-Season Invitational 2024!

MSI 2024 Format

As mentioned above, the event has the 12 best teams of the world: 2 from the LCK, the LPL, the LEC and the LCS, and 1 from the PCS, the VCS, the LLA and the CBLOL.

The MSI is divided into two big parts: Stage 1, which is the Play-In stage, and Stage 2, which is the Bracket part of the tournament. The second seeds of the 4 big leagues and the first seeds of the smaller ones have to go through the Play-Ins, while the best of the LCK, the LPL, the LEC and the LCS have already qualified for Stage 2.

The teams of Stage 1 are drawn into 2 double elimination brackets and will have to go through Best of 3 matches to decide which of them can advance. 2 teams will qualify for Stage 2 from both Group A and Group B. T1, Estral Esports, FlyQuest and PSG Talon have been drawn into Group A while Top Esports, LOUD, Fnatic and GAM Esports are in Group B.

Stage 2 will then have 8 teams again. This time around, all of them will be put into a double elimination bracket with Best of 5 matches, and at the end of it all, only one team may stand – and get a spot in the 2024 Worlds – but only if they make it to Playoffs in their respective league’s Summer Split. The second best squad will also get an extra spot for their region, but will have to fight for it in the Summer. So far, only G2 Esports, Gen.G, Bilibili Gaming and Team Liquid are in this Stage, but 4 others will join them in a few days.

The entirety of the 2024 MSI will be played on Patch 14.8 with Skarner enabled, and as the Defender of Ixtal has seen some play in SoloQ, he might pop up in some MSI matches as well!
