Nebraska Hires Matt Rhule as Head Coach

The University of Nebraska has hired Matt Rhule as their head coach according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rhule was fired this season as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. He had a 20-34 record in four NFL seasons. Before his time in the NFL, he had a 28-23 record at Temple and a 19-20 record at Baylor.

In his time at the collegiate level, he garnered a reputation for turning programs around in a short amount of time. Baylor won one game in his first season as head coach, then won seven before they won 11 games in his final season as head coach.

Rhule will take over for interim coach Mickey Joseph, who was put in the position after Scott Frost was fired. The Cornhuskers capped off their 2022 season with a win over Iowa, which brought their record to 4-8 on the season.
