NFL Quarterbacks Betting Odds: Rivalries for Week 14

It looked like Tom Brady would be held without a touchdown pass at home by the New Orleans defense for the third consecutive season – until the last few minutes of regulation. Brady led scoring drivers of 91 and 63 yards and had two touchdown passes in the last three minutes of the game, bringing the team back from a 16-3 deficit to post a 17-16 win. He threw a one-yard scoring pass to Cade Otton, with 3:00 left on the clock. The Bucs got the ball back just 41 seconds later, and he found Rachaad White for a touchdown with three seconds remaining on the clock. That gave the Buccaneers a season sweep against the Saints – after New Orleans had won seven in a row in the regular season against their division rivals. Don’t look now, but Derek Carr has led the Raiders to three wins in a row, with two of those coming on walk-off plays in overtime. The Rams will either have John Wolford or Bryce Perkins starting at quarterback in relief of Matthew Stafford, so take Carr in this duel.

N.Y. Jets (+9.5) at Buffalo Bills (44.5)
(1:00 pm ET)

Zach Wilson won a showdown against Josh Allen at home, leading his team to an unlikely comeback. Now it will be Mike White starting for the Jets, but Allen won’t be as careless with the ball this time around.

 

Cleveland Browns (+6) at Cincinnati Bengals (47.5)
(1:00 pm ET)

There was a time when Deshaun Watson vs Joe Burrow would have made a signature quarterback showdown, but with as much rust as Watson showed last week, that time is not yet here.

 

Houston Texans (+17) at Dallas Cowboys (44.5)

Dak Prescott has shown that he is a top-ten quarterback in this league. Kyle Allen started the season behind Davis Mills and could not secure the job in Carolina or Washington, either.

 

Minnesota Vikings (+1.5) at Detroit Lions (53.5)

Kirk Cousins has done a lot better job finishing games than Jared Goff has this year, but Goff has that Detroit offense cooking, week in and week out.

 

Jacksonville Jaguars (+3.5) at Tennessee Titans (42.5)

Ryan Tannehill has at least one ankle at less than 100%. Trevor Lawrence is still finding out just how high his ceiling will be. If the Titans win this game, it will be thanks to Derrick Henry and the running game.

 

Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5) at N.Y. Giants (45.5)

Daniel Jones is still much better at ball security this year, even as the Giants have stumbled a bit in the second half of the season. Jalen Hurts, though, is on MVP watch.

 

Baltimore Ravens (+3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (36.5)

Expect Tyler Huntley to start at quarterback in place of the injured Lamar Jackson as the Ravens visit Pittsburgh. The Steelers have one of the more exciting rookie stories at quarterback in Kenny Pickett.

 

Kansas City Chiefs (-8.5) at Denver Broncos (43.5)

This is another quarterback matchup that, at one time, would have been elite – Patrick Mahomes against Russell Wilson. Each passing week, though, shows that Wilson may be beyond done.

 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NL) at San Francisco 49ers (NL)
(4:25 pm ET)

Brock Purdy! He guided the 49ers to a win last week, after Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a possibly fractured foot. He takes on a Tom Brady who seems to be guiding the Bucs’ offense with pure spite at this point.

 

Carolina Panthers (+3.5) at Seattle Seahawks (43.5)
(4:25 pm ET)

The Panthers waived Baker Mayfield, at his own request, but don’t expect him to vanish as several other teams are facing injuries that could cause them to give him a look. For the Panthers, though, it will be Sam Darnold starting at quarterback – against the dominant Geno Smith for the Seahawks.

 

Miami Dolphins (-2.5) at L.A. Chargers (51.5)
(8:20 pm ET, NBC)

This looks like the best QB matchup of the week, as Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert can both light up scoreboards – and they both have their top two receivers healthy.

Kyler Murray has a higher ceiling than Mac Jones, but questions about Murray’s leadership and focus continue to abound. Jones was frustrated last week about the play-calling, but you want your competitive leaders to hate losing, don’t you?
