NIP defeat MOUZ 2-1 to win GET Dubai

NIP have claimed the GET Dubai trophy with a 2-1 victory over MOUZ in the single-elimination bracket’s final match, bringing the three-day tournament to an end. The Ninjas did so without IGL Hampus “hampus” Poser, who was unable to travel to the tournament and was substituted by Erik “ztr” Gustafsson, and coach Daniel “djL” Narancic, who was out sick on the final day.

MOUZ played the final with only three members of the team on stage, Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras, Jon “JDC” de Castro and Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen, as Christopher “dexter” Nong, David “frozen” Čerňanský and Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás had to play from separate hotel rooms due to Covid-19 protocols.

The next LAN scheduled for both teams, who are not going to BLAST Premier Spring Final, is IEM Cologne in July, with MOUZ starting in the play-in and NIP going straight to the group stage.

REZ topped the board in the final with a 1.29 rating

The series started off on MOUZ’s pick of Nuke, bearing a close affair early on with a 5-5 scoreline after ten rounds of play before dexter and company ran away winning four of the last five rounds to hit a 9-6 lead on the attack.

NIP kept it competitive and tied things up after winning the second pistol round with a 1vs2 clutch by Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora. A back-and-forth ensued, putting MOUZ in peril of getting stuck in a cycle of poor economy, but the European combine finally stabilized to put up a wall and claim their map, 16-11.

A clean pistol round by MOUZ with five kills and no deaths ushered in Inferno, but NIP managed to plant the bomb giving them ample resources for the forcebuy, which the Swedes won on the way to a five round streak. Fredrik “REZ” Sterner led the way for his team to hit double digits at the half, 10-5.

NIP then reached 12 rounds after winning the second-half pistol round and were all but set to close the map out on the often preferred CT side despite a rare underperformance by Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, but MOUZ clawed their way back to within one, 11-12. Finally, NIP regained control to drag the series to a third map, 16-11.

Brollan closed things out with an impressive ace and clutch

The Ninjas ninja defused in a smoke in the opening pistol round on Mirage, but nonetheless went down 1-3 after losing the forcebuy. Once rifles were in play the Swedes retook the lead without a hitch, going on a tear and not giving up a single round all the way to the half, 12-3.

Winning the second pistol round all but sealed the deal for the Swedes as they went on to hit match point after three rounds. MOUZ put up resistance to try and mount a comeback against all odds, but an ace including a 1vs3 clutch by Brollan in a pistol buy sealed the deal for NIP, who closed the map out 16-8.
