Overwatch 2 in 2024 - What We Expect To See

Overwatch 2 in 2024 – What We Expect To See

Overwatch 2 in 2024 will offer us tons of fun, and we think it will be an excellent year for our favorite game. Let’s learn more about it.

Those of you who’ve gone over our Overwatch 2 2024 wishlist are aware of some of the things that we want to see in our favorite game. For better or worse, we rarely get what we want, especially when it comes down to gaming. Blizzard is one of those companies that can come up with a variety of different things and you never know what to expect.

Having said that, after analyzing several tweets and looking at what we have so far, we think there are a couple of events that will take place in Overwatch 2. So, let’s learn more information about everything and see what’s going to happen.

You may have forgotten, but in early November 2023, we reported that Overwatch 2 will be getting at least 2 new heroes in 2024. Space Range and Venture were announced alongside Mauga, but only the latter became available in 2024. This means that we will definitely see the addition of the other two heroes in the near future.

According to what Blizzard said during BlizzCon 2023, Space Ranger should arrive in the middle of 2024, whereas Venture will become available in the first quarter of the year. In other words, we should be able to access Venture really soon.

In addition to these two, Blizzard will also give us access to another new  Overwatch 2 hero that should be a tank. The information is that it will become available later in 2024, so we probably expect to see it somewhere near the end of the year.

What’s interesting is that Blizzard decided to share all of this at BlizzCon 2023, which is not typical of them. Usually, the company only shares a couple of things, but this time, it decided to go all out and give us information about a lot of things that are to come. It seems like this was a good decision because a lot of players became more interested in Overwatch 2 than before. Whether this is due to Blizzard’s acquisition by Microsoft or not, following BlizzCon 2023, people started talking more about the game and everything else around it.

New Maps, Hero Mastery, Game Modes, and more

When talking about Overwatch 2 in 2024 and the things we expect to see, besides new heroes, we also need to add new maps to the list. 2023 was an intriguing year regarding maps, but we strongly believe 2024 will be even better. There will also be a new game mode, changes to hero mastery, and loads of other things that will make the game way more interesting than it is today.

Of course, those changes won’t happen overnight. In fact, we expect each season to have at least one or two changes, so we will have to wait and see what we’re gonna get. Speaking of seasons, Season 9 of Overwatch 2 will be special because we’ll have access to a new competitive system.

New Competitive System

One thing that many players are hyped about when talking about Overwatch 2 in 2024 is the new competitive system. We’ve covered how to play competitively and everything else around it, but it is important to know that many players from the community weren’t happy with the current system. This led to many tweets and whatnot, and in the end, Blizzard decided to take action and said that we would have a new competitive system.

If everything goes according to plan, the new competitive system will arrive in Season 9, which means around 2 months from now. It is worth knowing that this won’t be the first competitive change in Overwatch 2 because the first one took place around 1 year ago, and we’ve been using it ever since.

Collaborations between Blizzard’s games

Something that a lot of people from the Overwatch 2 community are hoping to see in 2024 is a collaboration between some of Blizzard’s games. When discussing Overwatch 2 in 2024, we expect to see at least a few events or PvE modes where the theme will be based around World of Warcraft. Considering this is one of Blizzard’s iconic titles, it is only a matter of time until we see events and other similar things where Overwatch meets World of Warcraft.

Remember that there have been several attempts at a collab between Overwatch and Blizzard’s games. For example, there was a time when there was StarCraft II skin, and in 2023, we got the chance to see the Lilith Moira skin. The latter became one of the best Overwatch 2 skins of 2023, and we expect it to continue to be popular in 2024.

Many changes to the PvE system

Despite the fact that some people do not like the PvE aspect of Overwatch 2, there is no arguing that this is one of the things that makes the game a lot more popular. If we take a step back to 2022, some of you probably remember that the PvE system was one of the main reasons why Blizzard decided to create Overwatch 2 in the first place. With that said, it took the team a while before they gave us access to some sort of PvE, and what’s even more interesting is that not everyone liked it.

Having said that, we expect those things to change in Overwatch 2 in 2024 because Microsoft will provide us with a top-notch PvE experience. The invasion campaigns in August was not that bad, but we are confident that 2024 will allow us to use a lot more things. It will be very intriguing to see what’s next, so follow us for more information.
