Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Hisuian Typhlosion Raid Counters

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Hisuian Typhlosion Raid Counters

Trainers, in another piece on the site, readers learned that the next 7-Star Raid will be Hisuian Typhlosion. However, there are so many great counters for the raid boss that it would be more productive to give a small sample size their own piece. This piece will go over the best Hisuian Typhlosion Raid Counters. As a reminder for the following suggestions, Hisuian Typhlosion’s tera typing is Fire.

Hydreigon

Firstly, Hydreigon is an ideal counter as it resists fire and ghost moves. Players can use a set that’s similar to the one for Mismagius:

Nature: Rash

Ability: Levitate

Item: Shell Bell

Moveset: Nasty Plot, Tera Blast, Earth Power, Surf

The movie variety for Hydreigon makes it incredible for Typhlosion. Just make sure it tera typing is something that can get it stab damage. The best ones are Water and Ground.

Bombirdier

Despite not being resistant to fire, Bombirdier is resistant to ghost AND it learns plenty of rock-type moves. This learn set will make it a huge asset against the boss. Here is a fairly useful set to counter the boss.

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Rocky Payload

Item: None

Moveset: Rock Slide, Fly, Acrobatics, Tailwind

It would help Bombirdier to have a rock tera type so it can get STAB on Rock Slide. Fly will help evade damage and stop the timer from decreasing quickly. Acrobatics for pre-tera stab along with Fly. And Tailwind will help slower allies move faster.

Great Tusk

Lastly, for this sample size, Great Tusk is another good counter being Ground/Fighting. If an ally, or Typhlosion itself, uses Sunny Day, it will proc Great Tusk’s Protosynthesis. From there, Great Tusk can proceed to brutalize the boss given that Hisuian Typhlosion is tera’d as pure fire. Here is a suggestion for a raid set.

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Protosynthesis

Item: Booster Energy

Moveset: Headlong Rush, Close Combat, Rest, Sleep Talk

Headlong Rush and Close Combat will do wonders for stab damage. Rest will also be used as a way to regain health with Great Tusk and mitigate the possibility of it fainting. Lastly, Sleep Talk will be used so that no matter what the status is, GT will always be able to attack. Given that it’s going to be essential for this raid, double down on the ground stab with a ground tera type.

Conclusion

These are the top recommended counters for the Hisuian Typhlosion Raid. Of course, these are pre-confirmations of Hisuian Typhlosion’s movesets. However, the Pokémon themselves are solid counters in the realm of typing and resistances. This piece will be updated when the moveset is confirmed.
