Cooperative climbing comes to PUBG Battlegrounds

Update 28.1 – yes, 28.1 – is now here for PUBG: Battlegrounds. And this time around that PUBG world is expanding into the electric world with new cooperative mechanics.

We’ve covered more PUBG: Battlegrounds news than we care to remember over the years, from the slightly dodgy early Game Preview release, through the full review process and into the multiple updates that have hit the game.

Today we come to Update 28.1, which in itself seems utterly crazy. But in reality, it’s one of the most interesting of updates to have hit the game in recent times. See, PUBG is going electric.

A new electric vehicle in PUBG: Battlegrounds

As the world starts to embrace the way of the electric car, so does PUBG: Battlegrounds. It’s doing that in Update 28.1 with the addition of an electric vehicle in the form of the Pico Bus. And much like those real-world technological greats, this one needs to be refilled at a charging station. Battery FTW. So where do you find the Pico Bus? Well, the Pico Bus is on the Rondo map.

The Pico Bus isn’t the only new addition to PUBG: Battlegrounds though. Update 28.1 also introduces the power of teamplay, with a new co-op climb mechanics. This will allow players to collaborate and overcome obstacles together, by being able to lift and even pull up a teammate to higher spots. Vaulting mechanics have also received a boost with the ability to vault onto vehicles, adding new strategies and more dynamic movement.

Adjustments aplenty

Need more? You got it with PUBG’s Update 28.1. There are enhancements to the market system, adding new items and adjustments. For instance, players will be able to buy two additional healing items from Rondo’s Market – the First Aid Kit and Energy Drink. Additionally, the Weapons Dealer has undergone a transformation, bidding farewell to the Vector and welcoming new weapons such as the QBZ, AKM, M249, and more.

And in response to player feedback, the Utility Belt is set to be removed in the upcoming March update. Gunplay has also received adjustments with modifications to weapons such as the JS9 and shotguns, for a more balanced gameplay experience.
