I was going to be really sad if GuMiho and Bunny didn’t qualify, two of my favorite players. Grats to everyone that made it!

Comparison with 2023 is warranted imo.
Terran: SpeCial out, Kelazhur in.
Protoss: Neeb, Creator, Classic out, Cyan, Firefly, Stats, SKillous, trigger in.
Zerg: DRG, Lambo, Elazer out, Scarlett in.

Terran field is stale (except LA Terran king succession), Zerg is dying, Protoss is boiling.

down to the wire for trigger! really happy for him.

I’m keeping my eye on Firefly this tournament. Especially after Oliveria’s run.

How on earth did Stats make it over Creator and Classic! Congrats to him, hope to see him on top form again. Sad there’s no Lambo.

Happy Scarlett managed to make it it
Also a notable chinese presence and Classic missed 5 match points

I’d say Stats was the most extreme case of bracket/match-up luck, as he drew a ton of PvP (his best match-up) + 1/4th dicerolled into sOs in his qualifier match (which was due to sOs’ crazy upset over GuMiho).

AdministratorHey HP can you redo everything youve ever done because i have a small complaint?

Overall a great lineup, pretty much everyone who i felt “should” make it made it, except ofc unfortunately Creator and Classic in terms of skill RIP (they’re probably better than Stats and a couple other Asia server players who made it). I really would have liked to see more hype Protoss games from them… but at least many other Protoss qualified!

In terms of regional household names, to me Elazer for EU and Harstem for AM (and maybe Special for LA too, but succeeded by Kelazhur) “should” have made it, but ofc there’s simply not enough spots. It does suck though that for “AM” qualifiers, Harstem didn’t make it since there’s already so few AM players, but it’s alright.

It’s really great that there’s a notable Chinese presence, since China has always been a strong Esports region, in Starcraft history as well (since WCG days for BW). It’s felt like China was quite weak for most of SC2 (but perhaps it’s just because I don’t follow it?).

Anyway, really great to see that foreigners seem to really have caught up to KR, with each region being competitive and able to beat almost anyone else! This might just be due to the game getting more figured out, so maybe foreigners lagged behind in the past but now the gap is much smaller.

Really tough qualifiers, if China really getting some good players then in the future I would hope that Asia server would get 1 more spot or so, else between KR and China there’s just too many good players not making the cut. (Especially since Asia includes the rest of SEA and Australia as well… that makes “Asia” region really huge!). Then Creator or Classic could have made it. BUT I also get that you don’t have to scale spots 100% to skill, it’s always nice to even out the # of spots a bit between regions just to increase the diversity and give the other regions a slight benefit of the doubt.

Here’s hoping to an exciting Katowice!

(It’s also crazy that sOs was close to qualifying.)

You do know that Harstem is from the Netherlands right?

The Chinese players Cyan and Firefly were simply better than Creator and Classic and did wel deserve their presence. Also I don’t see to many in the list above that would lose a Bo10 to either Creator and Classic or Harstem / Elazer / Lambo / Special for that matter so I’m pretty happy with the list skillwise

Go Serral! GG EZ for Ence. Flashbang dance FTW

Glad to see KelaGOD onfire!!
players need to be banned from changing their id’s after an established period of time – i had to find out who the hell “shin” was

edit: obviously if their name is controversial/offensive then that’s fine but in this case… why?

Pretty sweet deal just by qualifying you get $3k, which is the same prize money as getting to the Ro8 playoff at ESL Winter Atlanta (kinda sad).

very illegal and very uncool

Just noticed the event precisely covers the Chinese New Year. Hope the trio performs.

What is that Dark-pattern thing “Notable players who did not qualify”?

It’s because instead of having to check yourself which player did not manage to qualify, you can directly see them.

Kinda sad for Classic and Creator, thankfully for them Katowice isn’t going to be the World Championship, but it’s still a lot of potential money + prestige that they miss.

Stats qualifying is crazy, his bracket was insane. I really hope that he practices diligently and gets back in a good shape for the event
