Richie Incognito Announces Retirement from NFL

Richie Incognito has announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons in the league. He spent his time with the Rams, Bills (in two separate stints), Dolphins and Raiders. Incognito has not played a down in the NFL since 2020.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Friday afternoon.

Incognito is maybe best remembered for the bullying scandal that rocked the NFL in 2013. He was suspended from November to February of that season after reports surfaced that he had a significant role in bullying/hazing Dolphins teammate Jonathan Martin.

In 2005, Incognito was drafted in the third round by the (then) St. Louis Rams. He played there until 2009 before being waived and picked up for the remainder of the season by the Bills. After his first Bills stint, he signed multiple deals with the Dolphins, but did not play for the entire 2014 season. Incognito was eventually picked up by the Bills for a second time before spending the last years of his career with the Raiders. During his career, the guard made four Pro Bowls.
