Ryan Kerrigan Announces Retirement

Defensive end Ryan Kerrigan has announced his retirement from the NFL. The Washington Commanders released a video and a statement on Twitter announcing that Kerrigan will rejoin the team so he can retire with the team that drafted him.

Here is the Tweet that the Commanders put on their Twitter featuring the video tribute.

Kerrigan was selected by Washington with the 16th pick of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played with Washington’s franchise for 10 years, before playing his last year with the rival Philadelphia Eagles. He will now sign a one-day contract to officially retire as a Commander.

In 2021 (Kerrigan’s only year with the Eagles), he played in 16 games, starting just two. He only had three solo tackles and recorded no other stats. In four of his 11 seasons, Kerrigan recorded double-digit sacks. He now retires with four Pro Bowl selections under his belt.
