Steam Next Fest Kicks Off With Indie Game Demos and Developer Livestreams

Valve has kicked off the latest edition of the Steam Next Fest. Taking place from October 3 to October 10, the event is essentially a chance for indie game developers to highlight their upcoming games.

During the event, several indie games go on sale, and more interestingly, upcoming indie games have playable demos that can be downloaded and tried out for free.

Indie games from a wide variety of genres are available, including strategy, RPG, platformers, racing games, and even VR titles.

Alongside game demos, several indie developers also take the chance to livestream their upcoming or just-released games through Steam. These livestreams can be watched in a given game’s Steam page, and involve the developers playing through early parts of their games and answering viewer questions.

Valve recently revealed that it is changing up the schedule for its quarterly seasonal sales, replacing the usual Lunar New Year Sale with a Spring Sale. The next major seasonal sale is set for November 23—the Autumn Sale.
