Square Enix has announced that its new strategy RPG game The DioField Chronicle is releasing later this September.

Unlike this year’s other Square Enix strategy RPG Triangle Strategy, which is a Switch exclusive, The DioField Chronicle will be available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC as well as Switch.

A demo of the game is slated for release on August 10, available on all platforms it will be released on and includes the prologue and Chapter 1.

The DioField Chronicle features a different kind of combat system than you might expect. Instead of the usual turn-based tactics associated with strategy tactics/strategy RPGs, this game uses a “Real Time Tactical Battle (RTTB)” system. Characters move in real-time in the battlefield while you issue commands.

The DioFiled Chronicle features character designs by Taiki Taiki (Lord of Vermilion III, IV), concept art by Isamu Kamikokuryo (Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII) and music composed by Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell. An interesting choice of composers as Square Enix always has made bangers with their in-house staff, but the duo here previously worked on the soundtrack for the TV series Game Of Thrones.

The DioField Chronicle will launch on September 22 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
