Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Where To Find All 5 VHS Tapes

The heroes in a half-shell are back with another retro-style game. Released on June 16, 2022, the new Turtles game is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. It’s packed with references to Turtles history and is a wonderful callback to the beat-em-ups of yore, but it’s more substantial than players might think. Shredder’s Revenge boasts a few side quests in addition to the main story. One such quest is to find all 5 VHS tapes hidden throughout the game.

These tapes are not found in consecutive order, but are instead scattered throughout the title. You can collect them and bring them back to Vernon, who you meet in Episode 6, and he’ll give you a reward. The VHS tapes can be found in the following episodes:

Tape 1 and Finding Vernon: Episode 6, Mall Meltdown

You’ll end up finding the first VHS tape before finding Vernon. After you fight off a number of Foot soldiers ordering food and carrying trays, you’ll head up the broken escalator. You’ll then fight your way in front of a clothing store. The first VHS tape can be found right outside the store, in a garbage can between two potted plants.

Keep going forward and up another escalator. You’ll then be inside an arcade and while fighting more Foot soldiers, you’ll break open a popcorn machine and out pops Vernon.

Tape 2: Episode 7, Roof Running Reptiles

The Turtles are on the rooftops now. After you carefully cross makeshift bridges and gaps, you’ll eventually drop to a rigged riser, loaded with enemies, to get to another rooftop. Before you keep going, Bebop and Rocksteady make another appearance, running away with Krang’s body.

Keep fighting your best, and soon you’ll come across a giant gaping hole in the middle of the screen. Watch out! Above the construction is a red toolbox which hides the second VHS tape.

Tape 3: Episode 10, A Few Screws Loose

The third tape can be found early on in the episode. After fighting a mob of small Bots and Foot soldiers on motorcycles, you’ll be attacked by falling bombs you’ll have to dodge. Right at the corner of the buildings from which the bombs are being dropped, there are cardboard boxes and Foot Clan crates. Hurry over and break them. The Foot crate at the top of the screen is the one holding the VHS tape.

Tape 4: Episode 11, Dinosaur Stampede

After beginning the episode battling orange Triceratons, along with more Foot soliders, you’ll see a mounted skull with antlers. It’s a big and prominent feature, so you can’t really miss it. Next to the mounted skull is a much less conspicuous object, a museum mainstay: A card display, placed immediately to the right. Smash the colorful little display to grab the fourth VHS tape. From there, you’ll just need to continue toward the red arrow prompts.

Tape 5: Episode 13, Technodrome Redux

In a level that seems to blend futuristic technology with a prehistoric setting, you’ll be fighting some Stone Warriors. Alongside them, Foot soldiers will be causing trouble as ever, largely by throwing bombs at you.

Fairly early in the episode, you’ll come across what looks like a garage. Within it, there’s even more curious technology. After fighting more Stone Warriors and dodging a deadly, dangling laser, smash open the rather oddly-placed Foot Clan crate here to get the last of the VHS tapes. Finally, a full set!

What Do You Get For Collecting Them All?

When you’ve accumulated all five of the VHS tapes, you should swing back to Channel 6 Ban, which is right next to Episode 6. The icon will be a rather brilliant Vernon sprite. After giving him all the VHS tapes, he will reward you with 100 points, which you can use to level up your Turtles. Considering how challenging the game can be in places and how easy it is to lose health, any extra levelling up opportunities are much appreciated.
