Nicalis announced today that it’s working on a physical version of The Legend of Bum-bo for Switch. It will be available in Q3 2023.

Each copy includes a physical copy of the game with a reversible cover sheet insert and a helpful instruction manual. A “Borf Box” edition is also planned with an exclusive Travel Play Set of Bum-bo “stickies,” all contained in a corrugated cardboard outer sleeve that reflects the handmade look of the in-game graphics. The Play Set includes colorful die-cut vinyl characters and items that cling to either side of the included reversible background card; they can be removed and repositioned to create endless variations of scenes from the game or from the player’s imagination.

Below is an overview of The Legend of Bum-bo:

When Bum-bo’s only coin is stolen by a mysterious entity and pulled down into the sewer, Bum-bo finds himself facing droves of deranged enemies, lost children, his fears and eventually the beast that stole his beloved coin.

The Legend of Bum-bo is a puzzle-based “deckbuilding roguelike.” Players collect hoards of items that can be modified, upgraded and combined with others in many interesting ways. Play as one of many Bum-bo, each with its own unique abilities, as they smash, bash and splash their way through a variety of cardboard monstrosities, giant bosses and dark personal urges. . .

. . .oh, and it’s also the prequel to The Binding of Isaac!

Nicalis is currently taking pre-orders for the physical versions of The Legend of Bum-bo on Switch here.
