Pokémon Sword & Shield players rejoice, as the Galarian bird trio are finally getting their shiny forms, and you can receive them for free by just playing the game. Thanks to Serebii.net, we know the birds are free to players who take part in the upcoming International Challenges. It doesn’t cost anything to compete, but you have to make sure you’re registered for each International Challenge and take part in at least one match during the allotted times.
You do not have to win a single match, but you do have to battle in at least one. Registration for February’s challenge runs from February 3 – 17, with battles taking place February 18-20. For March registration runs February 24 – March 10, with battles taking place March 11-13. For April registration takes place from March 31 – April 14, with battles taking place April 15 – 17.
Shiny Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, are available as rewards for participating in the three different challenges, in February, March, and April respectively. Make sure you take part in each one to nab the entire trio, as their shiny colours actually match the colours of the original Kanto trio in a very neat touch.
