The Mid-Season Invitational is almost upon us.

We’re just a little shy over a month out from the ninth edition of the Mid-Season Invitational that will be taking place from May 1st to the 19th in Chengdu, China. This yearly mid-season tournament will feature the top 12 teams from across the regions that will meet centre stage for the first time this year at the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center.

And for the first-time ever, the winner of MSI this year will also be gifted a guaranteed spot at Worlds 2024, which will also count as an additional slot for its region. The first-runner up at MSI will not walk away empty-handed; they will also secure an additional seed for their region at Worlds.

LoL Esports has also ensured that competitive integrity is at the forefront of the competition as the team that earned the early invite to Worlds still must qualify for their region’s Summer Playoffs. The format for this year’s MSI is also slightly different from its predecessors.

MSI 2024 – Format

• 12 teams
• 2 teams each from – LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS
• 1 team each from – LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS

The Play-In Stage will be the first round of MSI 2024 and it will feature the second-seed from the likes of the LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS as well as the sole invited teams from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS. This will form two groups consisting of four teams each who will play a best-of-three series against one another in a double-elimination bracket. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the Bracket Stage.

From here, those four teams will then join the winners of the respective region’s Spring Splits to create an eight-team double-elimination bracket. Each series will be a best-of-five with the grand finals happening on May 19th to determine the winner of this year’s MSI.

MSI 2024 – Ticket Pricing

Tickets for MSI 2024 will officially go on sale April 2nd at 2:00 p.m. CST (April 1st, 11:00 p.m. PST). However, do note that ticket prices vary depending on the stage the tournament is currently in. Check out the ticket prices below:

• The Play-In Stage will be May 1-5
  • Prices range from ¥308 – ¥428 (~$42-59)

• The Bracket Stage (week 1) will be May 7-12
  • Prices range from ¥268 – ¥588 (~$37-80) for May 7-10
  • Prices range from ¥368 – ¥798 (~$50-109) for May 11-12

• The Bracket Stage (week 2) will be May 14-18
  • Prices range from ¥288 – ¥888 (~$39-120) for May 14-17
  • Prices range from ¥388- ¥1088 (~$53-148) for May 18

• The Final will be May 19
  • Prices range from ¥488 – ¥1,388 (~$67-190)
