Toronto Blue Jays Acquire Whit Merrifield From Royals

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Whit Merrifield from the Kansas City Royals according to Jon Heyman.

Merrifield, 33, has played his entire seven-year career with the Kansas City Royals. He has a .240 batting average this season with six home runs and 42 RBIs. In his career, he is batting .286 with 74 home runs and 387 RBIs.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday that some of the Blue Jays players were getting restless with their team not making a move to improve. The team was able to get Merrifield right before the deadline, who should help the team, who currently has a 57-45 record.

There is no report on the return for Merrifield yet. Kansas City is not in contention this season.
