(Updated) Best Gear in Lords Mobile – Marks Angry Review

Gear in Lords Mobile may be the single most important boosting variable. “Who are you kidding?”, I can hear you scream! “Equipment and gear don’t matter in Lords Mobile, courage and self-belief are all that you need! Just strap on your bravery helmet and attack all your enemies.”

Yeh. That’s bogus! That attitude won’t even help you in minesweeper. You’d probably blow yourself up in two clicks. Minesweeper knows your thoughts!

This article has been updated and now includes a lot more information and also tricks to get easier gear sets. This article was updated December 2020.

Equipment Gear Sets

How Important is Proper Gear?

Hero Fighting in Battle with GearHero Fighting in Battle with Gear

As mentioned, your gear will be your most important asset towards almost any task in Lords Mobile. Yes, killing enemy troops is also a task. A fun task, but still a task.

Attacking an enemy while wearing your construction gear, is like fighting a dragon wearing your Superman underwear. Just because your blue undies looks fierce in the mirror, doesn’t mean that you won’t get fried to a crisp.

The correct equipment will multiply the force of anything that you’re doing by x100. Don’t be stupid. Use your equipment properly.

Expert Tip: it is important to remember that your enemy will check likely inspect your equipment before even sending scouts. Effective gear (even research gear) will very quickly deter anyone from getting close. Anyone with good gear will usually have a powerful army hiding behind the castle walls.

Does my Gear have to Stay On?

Hero without any gearHero without any gear

This question is also part of my most important Lords Mobile tips!

The answer is no. Once a task has officially started, you can then remove the gear and the stats will continue to reflect the original gear-driven boost.

For example, if you put on your resource collecting gear, you will need to keep the gear on until the troops arrive at the Wood Tile. Once they begin collecting wood, you can put on your research gear and start a research. The troops will still get the resource boost.

You army gear only needs to be on while you are in actual battle. You don’t need battle gear while you are travelling.

Important Note: Plan your war gear in advance and try to spread it around among different monsters. If you pick one monster to give you 4 hard to get pieces you will not be able to max any of them without spending a bomb of money!!!

Construction Gear

Construction speed with all yellow construction gear should give you a 167.5% boost just from the gear. This amount doesn’t include all the additional boosts from research, talents, jewels, heroes, and temporary percentage boosts.

Your best friend with be the Noceros Monster when it comes to building up the powerful construction helmet and armor.

  • Accessory: Sentinel’s Circlet x 3
  • Off-hand: Gryphon’s Talon
  • Main-hand: Terror Lash (Alternative: P2P players who have purchased the Big Guy can use the Sacred Broadsword)
  • Helmet: Noceros Mask
  • Armor: Lightning Guard
  • Legs: Gryphon Walkers

Research Gear

Research gear is extremely important, especially if you’re going for T4. Unless you want to hit T4 troops when your too old to slide your fingers across the screen, you’re going to need a lot of research boosts. The following arrangement is the best set-up to use for research and when level 60 and yellow will give you a 128.5% boost excluding all other in-game boosts.

Aside from battle gear, the research gear is the most important gear. The 128.5% boost will deduct months of time when researching the massive technology options in the Academy.

  • Accessory: Lunar Flute x 3. These Flutes are amazing and easy. Focus on this like crazy. Try and get them as updated as you can as soon as possible!
  • Off-hand: Vice Grips. The other option is not worth it!
  • Main-hand: Electric Lance
  • Helmet: Wyrmbone Coronet. Only option…
  • Armor: Terror Shield. Alternatively, you can try and aim for the Cavalry Mail. You lose a few points on the research boost, but it will be MUCH MUCH easier to bring to Mythic! And you will want to save the Terror Seeds… Just saying!
  • Legs: Gryphon Walkers. This is the only option. It’s hard, but the boost is big!

Troop Training Gear

Troop training is so important. You’d think that there would be a lot of gear to help facilatate it. Spoiler alert. There isn’t much…

Anyways, here the gear to activate before starting to train new troops.

  • Helmet: Coarse Helm
  • Legs: Craggy Greaves

Of course, if you get champion gear, you’ll be able to have a lot more options… Personally I’ve been working on the Champion Katar anytime I get stuff from the Kingdom Tycoon.

Resource Gathering Gear

Resources will help feed your armies, build your buildings and research, and most importantly inflate your already overstated ego. You will need a lot of resources to keep your ego afloat.

Only 3 of the F2P (free to play) gears will cater to the actual 65% boost of resource gathering. The other gear will boost army capacity and travel speed.

Ivory Chokers will give you an 18% travel speed.

Important Note: Make sure this gear is active when the army actually reaches the resource tile. If you switch the gears while the army is still traveling towards the tile you won’t get the boosts!

Read my Darknest Guide to learn more about switching gears to maximize power.

  • Accessory: Ivory Choker x 3. You don’t really need these for resource gathering, but you may as well add them so that you can speed the wagons as fast as possible!
  • Off-hand: N/A. You may as well use the Gryphon’s Talon to up your capacity level…
  • Main-hand: Electric Lance
  • Helmet: Noceros Mask
  • Armor: Lightning Guard
  • Legs: Seafarers Cleats (Update: Now that the Craggy Greaves were released by Lords Mobile, they are the correct gear to wear.)

Familiar Training and Merging Gear

The Familiars… No one is quite sure if they like these weird things. But they give boosts, so whatever… You may as well…

I know. That’s how I feel as well.

(Update: The Familiars aren’t too bad. Some are a waste of time. Most of them are fantastic. Here’s a guide on everything you need to know about Familiars.)

Here is the best equipment layout to use before merging pacts or training the familiars. This setup will give a massive 218% Training EXP boost and a 150% Merging Speed Boost. Make sure to upgrade the Mystic Box as soon as possible. The 3 Mystic Boxes will give a 75% Merging boost and a 75% EXP boost.

Familiar Gear LayoutFamiliar Gear Layout
  • Accessory: Mystic Box x 3. Super easy and super powerful!
  • Off-hand: Blighted Vial
  • Main-hand: Bone Staff
  • Helmet: Accursed Mask
  • Armor: Spirit Mantle
  • Legs: Ancestral Kilt

All of these options are the only possible gear to use and therefore I don’t really have any comments on them… Just hunt a lot of Voodoo Shaman if you want Familiar gear!

Gold Production Gear

Gold is the most important resource and when you are running low it can really put a standstill on everything. It’s hard to do anything without gold. Even scouting an enemy requires a little gold. Good news is that you can speed up your manor production! Here is the equipment layout. It will give you a 277.5% boost.

Of course, I wouldn’t recommend focusing on these gear-sets once you get a little more advanced. The Familiar Gold Digger Boost is going to bring far past your maximum on a daily basis…

  • Off-hand: Gryphon’s Talon
  • Main-hand: N/A (there are no F2P gold production gear)
  • Helmet: Helmet of Conquest
  • Armor: Lightning Guard
  • Legs: Dwarven Toe Guard

Stone Production Gear

I always recommend the unbalanced resource production strategy. Simply put, get more building of one type of resource than the others. Don’t get the same amount for each type of resource building.

My personal system favors stone over lumber and ore. I have 1 farm, 3 Lumber Mills, 3 Mines, and 10 Quarries. Basically, I like rock and roll.

There are only 4 gear units that will help stone production but they will give you a 155% boost when maxed.

Infantry Gear

To learn more about troop composition, go to my tutorial on Darknests. My preferred attack style is one troop attack. It’s more work because you will need to collect a lot more sets of gear, but the punch will be a lot more fierce. My recommendation would be to focus on one set of gear at a time and then slowly moving over to the others. Alternatively, you can skip these single style gear types and build “double-punch gear sets” instead. But please don’t, that’s how the idiots play…

I prefer to focus on both Infantry Max HP and Infantry ATK. I may lose a few points from my ATK but I will gain a stronger army in the long run.

The following gear setup (at gold) will give me an Infantry ATK of 210% and Max HP of 90% without including the gems.

  • Accessory: Ambrosial Cup x 3 – Bloody Hard Difficulty from Bon Appeti. I would definitely focus on getting 1 Ambrosial Cup to Mythic. But for the other two spots, I would fill with 2 Terror Vials until you’re ready to go for the next Ambrosial Cup.
  • Off-hand: Eerie Lantern – Super Hard Difficulty from Cottageroar (Alternative: Viral Switchblade from Mecha Trojan. It’s much easier. It will not give near the punch, but when you max it (much faster) you will be a lot more powerful!)
  • Main-hand: Ghastly Cane – Hard from Cottageroar. (Alternative: Terror Lash from Terrorthorn). If you aren’t a Pay to Play Player, you will probably want to get the Frostwing Greatsword. It will not have the power of the Terror Lash but it will give a 28% ATK boost at Mythic, and it’s easy and covers Cavalry and Range.
  • Helmet: Beast Helm – Hard Difficulty from Saberfang. Also has Cav ATK and Army HP boosts. It’s hard to max, but it’s your best option… It will also be important for speed…
  • Armor: Terror Shield – Hard Difficulty from Terrorthorn. (Alternatively Firewall Plate – Medium difficulty from Mecha Trojan.) I prefer the Firewall Plate. You will probably be getting too much gear for Infantry that will require terror seeds…
  • Legs: Storm Tasset from Tidal Titan – Hard Difficulty from Tidal Titan. Bonus is that it will cross over for Cavalry. (Alternative: The Dragons Talon will crossover with the affordable option for Range, and are much easier.) If you’re not loaded with spare cash, I would definitely focus on the Dragon’s Talon!

Range Gear

As I mention on my blog whenever I get a chance, I’m not much of a range fan. I don’t have anything, per se, against bows and arrows. I just like Infantry and cavalry better. My plan is to finish building Infantry and Calvary Gear before I start properly focusing on my Range Gear.

The numbers, however, do not lie. The diagram is below. This gear setup will give a Range ATK of 195% and Range HP of 62.5% when maxed to gold. The calculations for Mythic have yet not been added up. Stay tuned.

  • Accessory: Ambrosial Cup x 3 – Hard Difficulty from Bon Appeti. (Alternative: Blight Ring). Please note that for almost all players, the Blight Ring is going to be a MUCH BETTER option! The Ambrosial Cups are ridiculously hard to get. If you’re on a budget, it’s best to get 1 cup and then focus on getting 2 Blight Rings!
  • Off-hand: Eternal Codex – Hard Difficulty from Grim Reaper.
  • Main-hand: Skull Crusher from Hell Drider. (Alternative Nectar Orb, Decadent Sword and Wyrm Rod). The Skull Crusher is the best option by far! It’s much easier than the alternatives and it has an Army ATK boost that puts it far ahead!
  • Helmet: Wyrmbone Coronet – Very Hard from Jade Wyrm (Alternative: Bumblehelm – Hard Difficulty from Queen Bee). The Bumblehelm is far easier and also gives you solid Cavalry specs.
  • Armor: Beastly Breastplate – Very Hard from the Hootclaw. (Alternative: There is also the Hedonic Cuirass or Hardened Carapace.) The Dealthy Mantle might be the way to go at the beginning. It is really easy.
  • Legs: Dragon’s Talons (Medium from Blackwing). This is the best option by a long shot! This will probably not be the best option for long… But for now, it is!

Cavalry Gear

Like the Infantry and range formations, the cavalry exclusive composition will carry a terrifying punch when in its advanced stages. Don’t forget to also change the troop formation to Cavalry Phalanx or Cavalry Wedge. That’s really important.

With the primary gear shown below, the Cavalry ATK will be 288% and the Cavalry HP will be 83% (and Army HP is 49%) in Mythic.

  • Accessory: Fear Drum x 3 – Medium Difficulty from Gargantua. (Alternative: Work slowly on only 2 Fear Drums and make 1 Ivory Choker while building 3rd Fear Drum)
  • Off-hand: Lunar Boomerang – Very Hard from Hootclaw. (Alternative: Dragon’s Fist – Medium Difficulty from Blackwing. The Dragon Fist is my recommendation for anyone who isn’t serious P2P.)
  • Main-hand: Horn Cudgel – Medium Difficulty from Gargantua. (Alternative: Frostwing Greatsword – Medium Difficulty from Frostwing.) The obvious problem with Horn Cudgel is that you will be needed a bunch of stuff from the Gargantua and it may be difficult. The Frostwing Greatsword isn’t near as good but I recommend getting it until you’re ready to start on the Cudgel…
  • Helmet: Bumblehelm – Hard Difficulty from Queen Bee. It also has Ranged 42% and Army HP 28% which is awesome. (The alternative option is Beast Helm, but it isn’t as Cavalry powerful… They’re both hard. You kind of have to pick your option and run with it…)
  • Armor: Firewall Plate – Hard difficulty from Mecha Trojan. It also has Siege ATK 42%, Army HP 21%, and Infantry ATK 28%. This is the best option. It’s hard to max, but it is what it is…
  • Legs: Gargantua Belt – Medium From Gargantua. (Alternatively: Storm Tasset from Tidal Titan . Go with the Gargantua Belt. I know that it’s a lot of Gargantua, but it’s just your best option…

Defensive Military Attack

This is a VERY important set of gear. This is the gear set that you want to keep on so that you can protect yourself in the event that someone attacks you BEFORE you have the chance to get into the right gear.

This gear set is a mixture of the best gears, using the most popular options from all the sets. This set is important because if you show too strong of a leaning towards a particular troop type, the enemy will know what formation to use.

I call this gear set the Mark-Defensive-Lineup. Yes that’s Mark for me! Deal with it!

  • Off Hand: Eternal Codex for Range and Cavalry (Alternative: Viral Switchblade for Infantry and Range)
  • Main Hand: Frostwing Greatsword for Infantry, Range and Cavalry.
  • Helmet: Bumblehelm for Range and Cavalry. (Alternatively: Beast Helm for Infantry and cavalry)

Overall Battle Gear

Some people are just lazy and aren’t interested in picking out sets of gears and then working on them… Or some players aren’t interested in the battle element of Lords Mobile and would like to have something ready, but don’t care too much about the details. Prepare the drumrolls. I’ve planned out my dream-team of battle gear for the lazy collector. This set of gear is as good as you can get if you want everything at the same time…

Expert Tip: You will NEVER become an expert with this set. This set is too random to be truly effective. The more direct techniques listed in the sections below will really turn you into the killing machine you were born to become.

General Battle Gear LayoutGeneral Battle Gear Layout

Alternatively, you can go for the Army Boost gear as shown below. This set will focus on just improving your overall Army ATK and Army HP. It will bring your Army ATK to 47% and your Army Max HP to 102%. I’m not a fan, but who asked me…

Army ATK GearArmy ATK Gear

Expert Tip: The Burning Scroll Accessory from Hell Drider is a great idea to build alongside whatever strategy you end up using. The Army ATK and Army HP will assist you until your other accessories are ready for action!

Defensive Gear

I’ve mentioned this a bunch of times elsewhere, but I will repeat it now for the very slow-minded among us. Don’t bother working on your wall unless you plan on maxing the wall into a monster-wall. Anything short of a full-power wall is a waste of time.

That being said, if all your troops are safe and someone is heading your way with an army, you may as well inflict as much damage as you can. Here is the set that will give him maximum pain.

This setup is designed to boost the Traps and the Wall:

Defensive Gear for Wall and TrapsDefensive Gear for Wall and Traps
  • Accessory: Ivory Choker x 3 (Easy Difficulty from Saberfang)
  • Off-hand: Orb of Pestilence (Medium Difficulty from Mega Maggot)
  • Main-hand: Horn Cudgel (Medium Difficulty from Gargantua)
  • Helmet: Shadow Helm (Medium Difficulty from Mega Maggot)
  • Armor: Deathly Mantle (Medium difficulty from Grim Reaper
  • Legs: Frostwing Boots (Medium From Frostwing)

One last tip: If you don’t have a monster-wall and you do have troops behind the wall – DO NOT use this lineup!

Travel Speed Gear

Speed Gear is really important. The boost that you can get by putting on the speed gear will make a massive difference to the overall game play.

Some of Speed Gear is really easy. Others might be a little tougher. But focus on it and don’t give up!

Travel Speed Gear Equipment Lords MobileTravel Speed Gear Equipment Lords Mobile
The Top Travel Speed Gear Set. Updated December 2020

As you can see, there is no Off-Hand for Travel Speed. Your best option is to put the travel speed jewels into another off-hand gear and then add it to get a little extra boost.

  • Accessory: Ivory Choker from Saberfang. This is easy and obvious! The good news is that you don’t need any of the Bloodsuckers. Get all three Ivory Chokers!
  • Off Hand: There is no off-hand speed gear yet…
  • Main Hand: Go for the Electric Lance from the Noceros. It’s the same travel speed boost as the Ripper Claw but it has research as well… It’s kind of an obvious choice if you’re not a complete moron…
  • Helmet: Beast Helm from the Saberfang. The thing is, as with the other Saberfang Gear, the Beast Helm is super hard to max. If you don’t have a few hundred dollars to spend just on this gear, go for the Noceros Mask instead. Much easier and much more accessible!
  • Armor: Predator Pauldrons from Saberfang. It’s hard, but it’s the only gear available so there are no easier alternatives…
  • Legs: Untamed Boots from Saberfang is also the only option aside for buying Champion Gear. Basically the Untamed Boots are your best F2P option…

As you can see you will really need to master the Saberfang monster in order to improve your travel speed…

Monster Hunting Gear

Monster Hunting Gear is basically Play to Pay. Yes, Lords Mobile will occasionally give you the chance to win a few chests, but if you really want to have any serious gear, expect to pay. A lot!

  • Accessory: Hunting Horn. Very weak but very easy. I guess, how powerful can a freakin horn be when fighting…

  • Legs: Hunting Greaves.
