Valve release IEM Rio Major champions stickers; announce new RMR invite system

Valve has added the Champions Autograph sticker capsule to the game featuring the five Outsiders players who took home the IEM Rio Major trophy: Evgenii “FL1T” Lebedev, Petr “fame” Bolyshev, Dzhami “Jame” Ali, David “n0rb3r7” Danielyan, and Alexey “Qikert” Golubev.

In addition to the new stickers, the CS:GO blog post also mentioned that Valve were going to make changes in how teams are invited to the Regional Major Ranking tournament starting at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023.

Outsiders took home the trophy after besting Heroic in the grand final

Currently, those that participate in the RMR consists of teams that either receive a direct invite based on their performance at the previous Major or those that went through their respective regions’ open qualifiers.

For the upcoming Major in Paris, Valve stated that some teams will be given the opportunity to forego the open qualifier stage based on their results at both Valve-sanctioned and third-party competitions and progress to a closed qualifier where they will compete against those who made it through the open stage.

More information about the newly-announced Regional Standings process will follow in the coming weeks.
