FURIA take down OG in overtime

FURIA gave the home crowd something to cheer for with an overtime win over OG. In the first round of matches at the IEM Rio Major, the Brazilian fans witnessed all three of their local teams fall, but they have a reason to be optimistic about FURIA after their wins over 00NATION and now OG.

FURIA lightened up the mood in Riocentro with a win

FURIA got off to a strong start on Overpass with a win on the T-side pistol round, however, the home team was unable to maintain that lead as a 1v2 clutch on the scout from Abdul “degster” Gasanov brought OG straight back into it. The back-and-forth affair continued for the first half, with OG going down 7-4 but brought themselves back into the game as the half ended. With the score tied 7-7, OG edged ahead, shutting down a B-hit to win their CT side.

In the second half the back-and-forth affair continued with FURIA able to take the lead 9-8 but only momentarily as OG clawed their way back into the game. Led by Adam “NEOFRAG” Zouhar and degster, the international lineup took a 13-10 lead and was poised to win the game. FURIA were not going to give up easily and would bring the game back into contention with a 2v2 win on match point. At 15-14 with 30 seconds left on the clock Maciej “F1KU” Miklas attempted a 1v4 but would not be successful and the game would go to overtime.

The competitive nature of the match continued into overtime with both teams trading rounds. FURIA set the crowd alight with a bomb defuse under fire to take the lead in the first half of OT. Andrei “arT” Piovezan and Yuri “yuurih” Santos continued to stand out for their side and on the T-side were able to put OG to bed 19-16.

The result puts FURIA into the 2-1 pool where they await their next matchup.
