VCT 2023 Pacific LCQ – List of Teams

The Pacific LCQ will feature seven teams, two from Japan and one each from South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Thailand.

  • Gen.G Esports

Gen.G’s debut on the international stage was LOCK//IN as they have not attended any previous Masters or Champions tournaments, and they barely missed the ticket to this year’s Masters. During the Regular Season of VCT Pacific, the South Koreans almost failed to make it to the Playoffs with a 4-5 record. The Playoffs weren’t kind to Gen.G, as they only grabbed a single victory, securing the 4th place in the event. This LCQ will be their final chance to attend another global event this year.

  • Team Secret

The Filipino squad showed excellent potential in the Regular Season with strong victories against DRX and Pacific champion Paper Rex. Their Playoffs journey started with a 2-0 win facing ZETA DIVISION, but the next two encounters ended in 1-2 defeats, which was the end of their journey for a Masters spot. Going into LCQ, Team Secret is a squad to keep a close eye on as they have the ability to defeat some of the strongest names in the international scene.

  • ZETA DIVISION

ZETA DIVISION opened a new chapter for Japanese VALORANT with their excellent performance in Masters Reykjavík, but this year hasn’t brought many fruitful outcomes for the roster. With a 5-4 run in the Regular Season, they secured their Playoffs spot in VCT Pacific, but the squad failed to get any victories against stronger names of the event. Their Playoffs journey ended swiftly as the team failed to get a single victory, resulting in no Japanese team in the country’s first global VALORANT tournament.

  • Rex Regum Qeon

The Indonesian organization’s VALORANT roster is based in the Philippines, and this year has been their first time competing in a franchised event. They had a 4-5 record in the Regular Season, barely missing the Playoffs and failing to compete for the Masters. As a fairly new contender, the squad is yet to impress the global scene, and the LCQ would be the perfect place to do it.

  • Global Esports

As the first and only Indian roster in the VCT franchise, Global Esports had a lot of expectations on their shoulders in the Pacific League. Before the tournament, the squad faced visa uncertainty and swapped several players in and out during the matches. Throughout the Regular Season, Global Esports managed to gather only three wins, and many pointed out the lack of coordination in the international team. This LCQ is going to be another opportunity for the team’s talented players to show their potential.

  • Talon Esports

Talon Esports, previously part of XERXIA’s and X10’s core, have done pretty well in their regional Challengers events in prior years. However, the squad failed to get notable records on international stages, a curse that haunted them in VCT Pacific as well. They ended their Pacific League with a 3-6 record – a disappointing run from a team with more than enough experience competing with the big dogs.

  • DetonatioN FocusMe

It has been a long time since DFM got their last win, as the Japanese newcomers left VCT Pacific without a single victory. The disappointing 0-9 record has set the expectations for the ground level for this team, and the only way is up. We might expect major roster changes for the team if their LCQ journey ends in vain.

The Pacific LCQ will use a unique hybrid elimination system, with the bottom five teams in the VCT Pacific seeding fighting in a single elimination bracket and the top two squads participating in a double-elimination competition.

The lowest seeds, 6th and 7th, will face off in a single elimination Upper Bracket Round 1 match, with the victor joining seeds #3, #4, and #5 in another round of single elimination Upper Bracket Quarterfinal matches.

The remaining two teams, from seed #3 to #7, will compete in a double-elimination tournament alongside the top two seeds in the Upper Semifinals.

All matches will be Best of 3s, except for the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final, which will be Bo5s.
