VCT Game Changers Championship Will Be Held in Berlin
Riot Games’ Game Changers circuit has come a long way since last year. It was first introduced in February 2021 as a supplementary program for the competitive Valorant Champions Tour season. It started small but slowly grew into a fully fledged Valorant league with some of the best Valorant teams competing in it.
Just like the main Valorant Champions Tour event, the Game Changers series also culminates in a final Championship tournament, which Riot Games have just announced.
The final tournament will be held in Berlin, and will last from November 15th to November 20th. There will be a total of eight teams from six different regions competing in this event.
Valorant Going to Berlin Once Again
The VCT Game Changers Championship is returning to Berlin once again. We first visited the German capital when the VCT 2021: Stage 3 Masters took place and then again for the VALORANT Champions 2021. Much like ReykjavÃk, Berlin has become the go-to location for all of Riot’s major esports events recently.
Originally, Riot Games intended to host all their major Valorant esports events in different locations but were prevented from doing so due to Covid-19 problems. The Visa restrictions and the ever-increasing Covid-19 measures forced Riot Games to pick the location very carefully, and they decided to go with Berlin.
Obviously, this turned out to be the right move as the organisation continues to host their biggest events there.
VCT Game Changers Championship Slots
Just like the main Valorant Champions Tour circuit, VCT Game Changers also has a fixed number of slots of the main events such as Game Changers Championship. In this case, there will only be eight teams, and those eight teams will be selected from six different regions.
Here’s how the VCT Game Changers Championship slots will look like:
- EMEA 2 slots
- NA 2 slots
- BR 1 slot
- LATAM 1 slot
- East Asia 1 slot
- APAC 1 slot
Which Teams Will Make it There?
Right now, we still don’t know which teams will attend this event as there’s plenty of time left until November. Still, there are a few teams in Game Changers that have been dominating the scene for quite some time, so there’s a good chance they’ll end up there.
The first team on this list is definitely G2 Gozen. G2’s all-female squad has been dominating EMEA ever since they first stepped on the stage.
They first competed in the VCT 2021: Game Changers EMEA Series 2 in 2021 and took 3rd place. Soon after, they ended up winning the VCT 2021: Game Changers EMEA Series 3 and ended the season on a high note.
The second season has been even better as G2 Gozen continued to mount victories one after the other, winning both VCT 2022: Game Changers EMEA Series 1 and VCT 2022: Game Changers EMEA Series 2. They’re now sitting at first place in the overall EMEA Standings with 75 points. Expect them to show up in Berlin in November.
On the NA side, we have Cloud9 White. This team, much like G2 Gozen, have continued to dominate the region and have won all three series in 2021 and claimed the Series 1 of the current VCT Game Changers season. Given their impressive track record, we expect them to claim another 1st spot in the NA Series 2 that’s scheduled in early July.
Still, there are plenty of other promising teams that will land a spot in Berlin, but these two teams are currently the strongest both in terms of performance and overall success in the VCT Game Changers circuit. As such, they’ll most likely have the best Valorant odds as well, so keep that in mind.
