Warhammer 40K Darktide: What is the Wounds stat? – Explained

As soon as you hit level eight, you unlock your first Curios slot in Warhammer 40K: Darktide. If you go to the shop to buy one, you might see one with the Wounds stat on it, but Darktide doesn’t explicitly tell you what it does. Figuring out what the game’s individual stats mean can be tricky, and it’s not as if everyone is going to take a Curio with an unknown stat into battle solely to see what that accomplishes. Having Wounds stats can be a very helpful bonus that can make the difference between life and death, so equipping these Curios can be very much worth it. In this guide, we’ll explain what a Wounds stat is in Darktide.

The Wounds stat in Darktide governs how many segments you have in your HP bar. By default, you just have three. When you’re downed and resuscitated, one of those three sections becomes purple, meaning that you can only heal up the white-colored spaces. Each time you’re downed, another section turns purple. But with Wounds, your HP bar will get more segments, meaning that not only can you be downed more times, but you won’t lose access to as much HP when it happens. Therefore, if you have a Curio with Wounds+1, you’ll get a fourth segment — higher numbers means more segments.

The Wounds stat in Darktide can make your life easier

Once you start playing on the third difficulty, you might find yourself dying more, so it’s never a bad idea to have more Wounds stat points in Darktide. The more health you have, the less you’ll have to worry about quick deaths, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the shop’s stock whenever you see the stat pop up. So there you have it. Whenever you see another player with more segments on their HP bar, they have buffs to their Wounds stat as opposed to more HP.
