What is Affinity in Monster Hunter Now Explained

Have you ever looked at the stats on your gear for your hunter in Monster Hunter Now? With all those numbers, you might be left confused as to what they mean. Monster Hunter Now just gives you the keys to the kingdom without any explanation. This is a trend that’s been in all Monster Hunter games, you need to find out what each stat means through playing the game, and clearly, the same is done here. One of those stats is Affinity which is rather important. If you read this guide, we’ll explain what Affinity is and why it is so crucial in Monster Hunter Now.

Monster Hunter Now: How to increase Affinity

First, Affinity is your chance of hitting a monster with a critical hit. So if you have a weapon in your toolkit with high Affinity, you should swap to it. Basically, the higher the Affinity stat, the higher your chances are of getting those devastating hits in. Additionally, a weapon with Affinity can make locked-on attacks do more damage. It’s worth looking at this stat whenever you get a new weapon.

Raising Affinity is done by using Armor Skills such as Critical Eye. This skill increases your Affinity on whichever weapon you have equipped up to 40 percent. You can find Critical Eye on armor like Leather Headgear, Kulu Headpiece, and more.

On top of that, it seems like the Weakness Exploit skill has the same mechanics as well. However, it only activates when you attack a monster in their weak point. So this may be a little more challenging. I’ve found that the weak spots are mostly on their backside or underside. Equipment with this skill can be found on Rathalos Mail and Rathalos Greaves. When fully upgraded, the skill yields 50 percent Affinity which is crucial when going up against those six-star monsters.
