Will Al Mazrah be removed in Warzone? Answered

Once the first season of Modern Warfare 3 arrives this coming December, Warzone will receive a major overhaul. One of the biggest new additions that Warzone will receive by that point will come in the form of Urzikstan, a new primary map for players to grow accustomed to. But with this new change, many longtime players may wonder what this means for Al Mazrah, the primary map for the 2.0 version of Warzone. Will the new Urzikstan map replace Al Mazrah altogether, or will players still have the ability to play it in some form?

Is Al Mazrah on the way out?

From what I have read online, it looks like Al Mazrah will still exist in Warzone for at least a little while longer as one of the maps playable in the DMZ mode. However, when it comes to the map pool for the main Battle Royale mode, Al Mazrah will no longer remain playable. This seemingly applies to other modes as well.

According to a post by Call of Duty content creator CharlieINTEL, Warzone will start with a total of three maps once it integrates with Modern Warfare 3 in December. This selection of maps includes Ashika Island, Vondel, and of course, the aforementioned Urzikstan, all playable in the Battle Royale, Resurgence, and Plunder modes at launch. While not directly stated, the omission of Al Mazrah from that list serves as a clear indication that it will be cut from the main modes.

Although the removal of Al Mazrah from much of the Warzone experience serves as an unfortunate reminder of the inherent impermanence of these kinds of online games, at least the map remains in some capacity. Having said that, if you would still like to play a few rounds or more of Battle Royale in Al Mazrah, you will only have a few months before the developers take it out of the map pool.
