Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Burnley Match Analysis and Prediction

Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley will continue their preparations for their respective 2022/23 campaigns when they face off in their second pre-season encounter at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground on Saturday night.

Wolverhampton opened their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 win over Forest Green Rovers in a behind-closed-doors warm-up, while Burnley scrapped a 1-0 victory over Rochdale in their opening pre-season warm-up.

Wolves had a good season last term with the side poised for a European spot at one point, before hitting a slump towards the end of the campaign. They did however manage to finish 10th and will be looking to improve on that next season.

Bruno Lage’s side will also face Alaves, Levante, Besiktas, Sporting Lisbon and Farense in their busy pre-season before they open their Premier League campaign next month.

Burnley meanwhile had a poor campaign last season in the Premier League missing out on safety on the last day as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

They will now play in the Championship next season for the first time after earning promotion to the top-tier six years ago. Manchester City’s legendary defender Vincent Kompany has been tasked with igniting a promotion push after taking the reins at Turf Moor.

They were to take on Burton Albion this weekend in the pre-season but the game was postponed due to reasons beyond the club’s control and now they will take on Shrewsbury in their final pre-season friendly after the Wolves encounter.
