WWE 2K22 Cover Star: Reveal expected at a major pay-per-view event

Even with the release pushed back, the excitement over the WWE 2K22 Cover Star hasn’t slowed down.

Latest – Cover reveal expected in January

Unfortunately, the total sum of WWE 2K22 Cover Star news has been basically nothing for quite some time.

While it was disappointing to see the title officially delayed into March, the good news is that 2K did state when all that was revealed that more would be revealed this January.

Among the potential reveals they teased was the WWE 2K22 Cover Star, and the Royal Rumble seems like the perfect time for WWE to make that announcement.

WWE 2K22 Cover Star

WWE has been producing games for over three decades now, and we saw the partnership with 2K Games begin with WWE 2K14.

Since that time, we’ve seen some huge wrestling names get picked as Cover Star, which makes the man or woman chosen as WWE 2K22 Cover Star a major accolade.

The following Cover Stars have been chosen since WWE paired with 2K Games:

• WWE 2K15 – John Cena
• WWE 2K16 – “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
• WWE 2K17 – Brock Lesnar
• WWE 2K18 – Seth Rollins
• WWE 2K19 – AJ Styles
• WWE 2K20 – Becky Lynch & Roman Reigns

Meanwhile, the WWE 2K22 roster is shaping up to look worlds apart from what we saw in WWE 2K20.

Reveal Date

As for when we’ll get a reveal of the WWE 2K22 Cover Star, things were shaken up by the delay of WWE 2K22 all the way to March of 2022 rather than the title’s traditional October release window.

The WWE 2K20 Cover Stars of Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns were revealed on August 5, 2019, but that clearly won’t be the case for WWE 2K22.

While we don’t know a more exact date, 2K did state when the title was delayed that more would be revealed in January, potentially including the WWE 2K22 Cover Star.

The most likely time to have the reveal would be close to the Royal Rumble on January 29, 2022, so we could find out more then or in the surrounding days.

WWE 2K22 Cover Star Top Contenders

To get an idea of who might be chosen as the WWE 2K22 Cover Star, look no further than who has been on top of WWE in recent months and three names stand out above the rest.

Sasha Banks

“The Boss” has been on fire since capturing the SmackDown Women’s Championship last year at WWE Hell in a Cell against Bayley.

Sasha Banks went on to a marquee match at WrestleMania 37 against Bianca Belair, and she is still an integral part of that division now.

Roman Reigns

Usually there’s an undeniable “Top Guy” in WWE, and right now it’s still Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Since making his return at SummerSlam 2020, Roman Reigns has been absolutely dominant, and it’s looking like just about nothing could stop him.

Drew McIntyre

While Banks and Reigns seem like the most likely options, the third possibility that’s also had a great year is Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar back at WrestleMania 36 for the WWE Championship and anchored WWE Raw through some tough times.

While he ultimately lost that title, which is now held by Bobby Lashley, McIntyre is still a cornerstone of WWE today.

McIntyre would be a big choice, both figuratively and literally, but WWE 2K22 is also going to need to find a way to go big with next gen tech at their fingertips.
