Yankees Make Trade for RHP Kenyan Middleton

The Yankees have made their first trade of the 2023 MLB trade deadline, just under the wire for the 6:00pm ET cutoff. They’ve traded for Chicago White Sox right-handed reliever Kenyan Middleton, their first trade in a few months.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

Middleton started his MLB career as a Los Angeles Angel, spending four seasons there before becoming a Seattle Mariner and Arizona Diamondback for one year each. He spent just over half a year with the White Sox in 2023.

In 39 games and 36.1 innings pitched, Middleton has earned an ERA of 3.96. This is only his third season pitching over 30 innings, as he failed to pitch over 20 in any of his other campaigns. While striking out 47 batters, he has surrendered seven home runs.
