Fnatic CEO on logo change: “We don’t want to rewrite our history”

When you operate one of the longest-running and most recognised organisations in esports, the last thing you want to do is disregard your past. So when London-based organisation Fnatic unveiled a new logo in January — the third iteration in 15 years — the change wasn’t dramatic. Unlike a few other notable rebrands in esports recently, Fnatic’s logo has remained largely unchanged, opting instead to streamline while keeping the existing colour scheme and familiar shapes intact. This, Fnatic CEO and Founder Sam Mathews told Esports Insider, is because, “a rebrand has to be an iteration

‘Gun Rounds’ is a Clever Turn-Based Shooter Inspired by ‘Downwell’ that’s Hitting Mobile Next Month

One of my all-time favorite video games is Downwell, so when somebody says their inspiration for their own game is “What if Downwell was turn-based?" that definitely gets my attention. First of all, Downwell is basically non-stop, frantic shooting action, so… how the heck do you even make that turn-based? Thankfully it’s not up to me to figure out, and instead developer Blabberf is taking a crack at the concept with his upcoming game Gun Rounds. It’s a shooter that utilizes the very sparse color palette and pixel art style,

Microsoft may get Mortal Kombat and LEGO if it buys WB Games

Rumor has it that Microsoft is one of the parties interested in acquiring WB Games, the game publishing arm of WarnerMedia. If true, it could mean that several very valuable commodities could land squarely in Microsoft‘s lap — and I have to admit, it’s the most promising out of all the potential buyers. Exclusive: Microsoft has expressed interest in acquiring the games division of Warner Bros., the publisher behind popular game franchises based on Batman, Harry Potter and other characters.https://t.co/feERbOnW4o — The Information (@theinformation) July 6, 2020 We first heard

‘Crying Suns’ Review — A Tactical Roguelike Worth Playing

TouchArcade Rating:When it comes to space-faring roguelikes on iOS, the gold standard everyone’s heard of is FTL: Faster Than Light, and for good reason. While not as well known as FTL, Crying Suns ($8.99) has very similar notes of urgency and mystery. Much of the game feels rather similar to FTL, though that isn’t necessarily a bad thing—what is good in FTL is also good in Crying Suns. That’s
