2022 MLB Power Rankings: June 20

Every week MLB teams will be ranked for the rest of the season. Here are the 2022 MLB power rankings June 20.

1. New York Yankees

Record: 49-17

Previous Ranking: 1

There is no surprise here. The Yankees have been the most dominant team in all of baseball for weeks now. Aaron Judge is having a historic season and they have the best pitching in baseball, by a wide margin.

2. New York Mets

Record: 44-24

Previous Ranking: 3

The Mets jump up a spot to overtake the number 2 ranking. Starting pitchers Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer are still sidelined with injuries. When they come back, this team has the best chance to dethrone the Yankees at the top of the league.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers

Record: 40-25

Previous Ranking: 2

The Dodgers dropped out of the top 2 for the first time in these Power Rankings. They have faltered a bit as of late, at least for their standards. Starting pitcher, Dustin May, was spotted throwing live off a mound at Dodger Stadium this week.

4. Houston Astros

Record: 40-25

Previous Ranking: 4

Yordan Alvarez is making his mark as one of the best hitters in the game. The Astros hold a substantial lead in the AL West, the only team in the division above .500.

5. San Diego Padres

Record: 41-27

Previous Ranking: 5

The Padres overcame the Dodgers in the NL West for the first time in a long time, but that lead only lasted a few days. Manny Machado is a legit MVP candidate, putting together an impressive season.

6. Toronto Blue Jays

Record: 38-28

Previous Ranking: 6

The Blue Jays remain just a step behind the top 5 teams on this list. They are just a tier below these top ranked teams. They will need to continue to put together good, winning series in order to knock down one of the top 5 teams.

7. Atlanta Braves

Record: 38-29

Previous Ranking: 10

The defending champs are HOT. They recently won 14 games in a row, before dropping the series against the struggling Chicago Cubs. They have flown up the Power Rankings over the last few weeks.

8. St. Louis Cardinals

Record: 38-30

Previous Ranking: 8

The Cardinals stay consistent in the top 10. They have a dangerous lineup, led by Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado, 2 likely All-Stars this season.

9. San Francisco Giants

Record: 37-28

Previous Ranking: 12

The Giants claimed viral sensation Yermin Mercedes off of waivers. Mercedes could make a real Major League comeback and provide a spark for the Giants in the second half of the year.

10. Minnesota Twins

Record: 38-30

Previous Ranking: 9

Offseason acquisition Sonny Gray has been lights out in his 38 innings this season. He has a 2,09 ERA and a sub 1.00 WHIP. He looks to lead a Twins pitching staff that boasts a sub-4.00 ERA thus far.

11. Tampa Bay Rays

Record: 36-30

Previous Ranking: 7

The Rays have an incredible pitching staff and a subpar offense. Cy Young favorite, Shane Mclanahan leads the pitching staff. He is having an incredible season.

12. Cleveland Guardians

Record: 34-28

Previous Ranking: 15

The Guardians have been hot as of late. They sit within a game or two of the division lead. Watch out MLB fans, Cleveland is coming…

13. Philadelphia Phillies

Record: 36-32

Previous Ranking: 13

The Phillies are a legit NL Wild Card team thus far. They sit almost 10 games out of first in their division as of now. Their offense has come together and if it can continue, the Phillies will be a tough team to stop.

14. Boston Red Sox

Record: 36-31

Previous Ranking: 14

The Red Sox sit in 14th overall in the MLB but are still 4th in their division. They are close to a spot in the AL Wild Card, which would give the AL East all 3 wild card spots.

15. Milwaukee Brewers

Record: 38-30

Previous Ranking: 11

The Brewers have managed to drop nearly 10 spots in these rankings in just under a month. They have let the Cardinals catch and even pass them in the division. Yet, they are still within a game of the NL Central lead.

16. Chicago White Sox

Record: 31-32

Previous Ranking: 16

Lance Lynn made his long-awaited return, bringing the same fire that he would always bring. The White Sox remain in the race for the AL Central. They have the easiest remaining schedule in the MLB.

17. Texas Rangers

Record: 31-35

Previous Ranking: 20

The Rangers begin an 8-game stretch where 6 of those games are against teams 20 games under .500. They need to continue to make steps forward as they push closer to the top 15.

18. Miami Marlins

Record: 29-35

Previous Ranking: 17

The Marlins feature one of the most electric pitching staffs in the MLB. They routinely throw 98 mph fastballs and 94 mph changeups. Jazz Chisholm was ejected for the first time in his young career this week.

19. Arizona Diamondbacks

Record: 32-36

Previous Ranking: 19

Rookie infielder, Buddy Kennedy, burst onto the scene this week with a grand slam and a triple in his three games.

20. Los Angeles Angels

Record: 33-36

Previous Ranking: 18

The Angels’ star outfielder, Mike Trout has gotten back on track, as the Angels have also started to recover from their horrendous stretch a few weeks ago. Trout will need to lead the Angels back to the playoff contention that they were in last month.

21. Seattle Mariners

Record: 29-39

Previous Ranking: 21

The 21-year-old Rookie, Julio Rodriguez is having a tremendous rookie campaign. He has placed himself in the middle of the AL Rookie of the Year race with his hot start.

22. Colorado Rockies

Record: 30-37

Previous Ranking: 22

The Rockies finished the week on a three-game win streak, sweeping the top five ranked San Diego Padres. Here is your reminder that baseball is weird and random.

23. Baltimore Orioles

Record: 30-38

Previous Ranking: 25

The Orioles haven’t lost a series in 2 weeks, with 4 consecutive series wins or splits. They have the potential to continue pushing up the list after their series win against the Rays.

24. Pittsburgh Pirates

Record: 26-39

Previous Ranking: 23

The Pirates currently sit in 3rd place in the NL Central. This is much better than many predicted them to finish, which was 5th place in the division, and close to last in the MLB.

25. Chicago Cubs

Record: 25-41

Previous Ranking: 24

The Cubs broke a 10-game losing streak by taking two out of three from the hottest team in baseball, the Atlanta Braves.

26. Detroit Tigers

Record: 26-40

Previous Ranking: 26

The Tigers have struck out 552 times as a team this year, with five different players having struck out at least 50 times. Miguel Cabrera is putting together another respectable season.

27. Cincinnati Reds

Record: 23-43

Previous Ranking: 29

The Reds have a young pitching rotation with a lot of potential. They suffered a sweep to the Milwaukee Brewers to end the week.

28. Kansas City Royals

Record: 23-42

Previous Ranking: 28

The Royals feature the worst pitching staff in the AL, with 334 total runs allowed so far. Bobby Witt Jr. needs to continue to show improvements through the early stages of his career.

29. Washington Nationals

Record: 24-46

Previous Ranking: 27

The Nationals are leading the race to 50 losses. They are currently one of only two teams with a run differential worse than -100.

30. Oakland Athletics

Record: 23-45

Previous Ranking: 30

The Athletics stick as the 30th ranked team, marking their second consecutive week in that spot. They play two series against two sub .500 teams in the next week and a half. They will need to win these series to get themselves out of the 30th-ranked spot.
