Things Pokémon Z-A Needs (Part 2)

Hello trainers, last time, we talked about 3 aspects Pokémon Legends Z-A needs to make it as good or better than Pokémon Legends Arceus. The three specifics were multiplayer, keeping the Strong and Agile Style of attacks, and the Effort Level mechanic. In this piece, we’ll finish going over what Pokémon Legends Z-A needs.

New Mega Evolutions

From the announcement trailer, it is obvious that mega evolution will be returning. With this in mind, it would make sense that new forms would be in the works (and need to be) for several Pokémon. Amongst them, could be new mega evolutions for whichever Pokémon end up being the starters.

It is also an opportunity to bring back scrapped concepts for megas like Mega Flygon. It is not enough for megas to come back, there must be something new and innovative done with them. For example, it’s not a surprise that the developers left certain aspects of the gimmick unbalanced.

This is the perfect opportunity to balance it and make it more fair in a player vs player environment if they add it. Hopefully, other NPCs will get the chance to use mega evolution as it was a bit underutilized in its debut games.

Investment from the Company

Lastly, Gamefreak moved on from Legends Arceus too soon. Thousands to millions of players enjoyed Legends Arceus. But, it still had plenty of untapped potential in it.

As this was during the period before people and Pokémon became closer in their bond of existence, the developers could’ve had more small settlements show up to show that this gap is closing slowly after the main story. This would help counter the criticism that the world of LA was empty.

That isn’t the most egregious offense, however. Some players might know that there was a leak of the player’s modern room deep in the game’s files. This makes it feel that the story of Legends was left unfinished as the player character was left in the past after fighting Arceus.

It’s perfectly understandable to keep the player there for gameplay purposes. But, Dawn and Lucas can’t logically stay in the past forever. There should have been a resolution to them being whisked away to the past. Instead, the Pokémon Company just went straight to Scarlet and Violet. The fact that ZA is coming out in 2025 is a good sign.

However, during this extended window, the company should be putting its best foot forward to not rush and make sure the product is made with love and complete content.

Conclusion

These are the last 2 important things Pokémon Legends ZA needs to be as good of a game or better than Legends Arceus. It is still too early to say what the game needs. There is no official gameplay trailer out to give a foundation. However, these are simply things that the company could do to give the game a better chance to succeed.
