5. San Diego Padres

Record: 33-21

Previous Ranking: 4

Mackenzie Gore has been lights out to begin his rookie season, holding an ERA below a 2. With the return of Fernando Tatis Jr looming, this Padres team could become even more dangerous, very soon.

6. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers began the season 32-18, which marked their best 50 game start in franchise history. They have slipped a little since then, but they remain a top team in baseball.

7. Toronto Blue Jays

Record: 31-22

Jose Berrios set a career high this week with 13 strikeouts in a 7 inning performance against the Minnesota Twins. This kind of pitching is exactly what Blue Jays fans needed to see.

8. Tampa Bay Rays

Record: 31-23

Previous Ranking: 11

The Rays faced backlash from the State of Florida Governor after making a social media post about gun control this week. On the field though, the Rays continue to improve as a pitching staff and as a lineup.

9. St Louis Cardinals

Record: 31-23

The hottest hitter in baseball resides in St Louis, as nobody is hotter right now than Paul Goldschmidt. The reigning NL Player of the Month looks to carry the Cardinals as the team churns on into June.

11. San Francisco Giants

Record: 29-24

Previous Ranking: 12

The Giants currently sit at third in the NL West, behind two of the best teams in the league, being the Padres and Dodgers. The pitching this season has been a tremendous let down as a whole. They have currently allowed about 80 more runs than the first place Dodgers.

12. Atlanta Braves

Record: 28-27

Previous Ranking: 16

The Braves have begun to attempt to chip away at the nearly 10 game deficit in the NL East. Max Fried impressed with 8 shutout innings this week as well.

13. Cleveland Guardians

Record: 24-25

Previous Ranking: 19

The Guardians did not begin the season with much hope for a lengthy, playoff bound season. But on the back of MVP candidate Jose Ramirez, the Cleveland Guardians are less than 5 games behind the Twins for the AL Central lead.

14. Los Angeles Angels

Record: 27-28

Previous Ranking: 10

17. Philadelphia Phillies

Record: 25-29

Previous Ranking: 15

Zach Wheeler and Aaron Nola lead the pitching rotation ,as one of the best two-headed monsters in all of baseball. They have both pitched to sub 4 ERAs so far and the Phillies will look to these two to help lead them back into contention for the division.

18. Chicago White Sox

Record: 25-27

Previous Ranking: 13

There might not be a team that has been a bigger disappointment this year than the Chicago White Sox. They are one of the most talented teams in all of baseball. They just have not been able to put the pieces together this year. After another disappointing week that sees them sitting below .500, they look to bounce back in the month of June.

19. Texas Rangers

Record: 25-28

Previous Ranking: 18

The Rangers are closing in on the Angels for second place in the AL West. If the Angels keep sliding, the two teams could switch places very soon.

20. Seattle Mariners

Record: 24-30

Previous Ranking: 22

The Mariners have loads of talent. They are looking for pitcher Robbie Ray to get back to the pitcher that he was last year, which would provide a huge boost to this Seattle team.

26. Oakland Athletics

Record: 20-36

Previous Ranking: 25

There isn’t much to be excited about with the Oakland Athletics. They have a few qualified pitchers that are throwing well, but the lineup has been so bad that it hasn’t meant much what the pitchers have done.

27. Detroit Tigers

Record: 21-33
