7 CSGO Myths That People Believe Are True, But They Aren’t

Although CSGO has been around for more than 10 years, the game continues to be a gathering hub for all sorts of players. Those who’ve been playing for a while know the ins and outs of the game, but others are learning new things all the time.

Shooting while defusing the bomb

People who played Counter-Strike: Global Offensive several years ago probably remember that there was a time when players could defuse the bomb and shoot with their guns at the same time. With that said, things have changed because Valve released several updates that removed this option.

In other words, CSGO players do not have the option to shoot while defusing the bomb anymore. In fact, even when this was available, you could only do it with a few guns.

With that said, CSGO will allow you to throw different grenades while defusing. Many people are not aware of it, but this can come in handy in many situations, especially if you have a smoke. To throw a nade while defusing, you must start by pressing your right mouse button.

You can always kill a target by using the “slice x2, followed by a stab” combo with the knife

One of the things that CSGO players eventually learn is how to play with a knife. Winning knife rounds is extremely important, and since some players watch the best CSGO stars in action, they think that the easiest way to kill a target is by using the slice, slice, and stab combo. The latter means you have to hit your target 2 times with your left mouse click, followed by a direct hit with the right one.

While it is true that this combo works, the only way to land a kill on your target is if you don’t miss the first slice. Players have revealed that missing your initial left mouse click while using a knife and doing the combo afterward won’t kill your target. Therefore, you have to be extremely careful.

You take less damage when jumping under the effect of a Molotov

Everyone hates when the enemy team uses a Molotov, and you happen to be on top of it. Some CSGO players underestimate this nade, but it can do tons of damage, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. Speaking of the devil, some players assume that they will take less damage if they start jumping.

Although this may sound logical in a way, in reality, this isn’t the case. Following numerous tests, it became clear that people who walk and jump under a Molotov take the same damage. 

What’s interesting is that those who don’t know how to jump properly will actually take even more damage than those running through the Molotov because they will be slower. So, unless you’re really good at jumping, it’s probably better to just walk through it.

You can press “E” to open the vents on every map

There are loads of interesting CSGO maps you can choose from, and each one has something unique and special. If we look at Nuke, for example, we know that there are tunnels, and each one has vents. What’s interesting is that you can actually go near them, press “E” and turn them in a different direction.

Even though this will work in most cases, this isn’t the case on every map. In fact, it shouldn’t work anywhere else, so don’t be surprised if you can’t turn the events while playing on something.

Other players can always hear you when you pick up a weapon

If you’ve played CSGO long enough, you know that picking a weapon from the ground while running will make a noise, and your enemies will hear it. As a result, some people avoid doing this in specific situations because they think their enemies will know where they are.

While it is true that you do make a sound while running and picking a gun, this isn’t the case once you start walking. So, if you want to get that AWP, AK-47, M4A4, or whatever it may be, make sure to press “Shift” and start walking before that. As you can imagine, this can save you from many tricky situations and increase your chances of winning.

Enemies can hear you switching your weapons

While we’re on the topic of sound in CSGO, we have to share more information about weapon switching. This is probably one of the most popular myths, especially among low-rated players. However, after testing it numerous times, we can confirm that you can’t hear the enemy who’s switching his guns.

It doesn’t matter what kind of weapon he has or how much he’s switching it because it won’t make any difference. With that said, you have to be careful when using things such as scopes because they can get unwanted attention. 

You’re as fast with grenades as with a knife

Every CSGO player knows he should be using a knife while running because this allows him to be as fast as possible. However, some people think that they have the same movement speed even while using nades.

Following tests, it became clear that this wasn’t the case. People who run with their knives out have 250 velocity, whereas those using grenades have 245. Interestingly, players will always have less movement speed, regardless of the type of nade you’re using.
