During his enlightening discussion, Arteezy shed light on the paramount importance of itemization in Dota 2 and how it profoundly impacts a player’s overall performance and their team’s success. He emphasized that itemization often poses a significant challenge for many players, as the game’s gold leads are heavily influenced by the items purchased. Arteezy stressed that even with a substantial gold advantage, the true differentiator lies in the strategic choices made when acquiring items. He underscored the significance of making intelligent item decisions while avoiding poor choices that can effectively nullify the hard-earned gold lead. By comprehending and mastering the art of effective itemization, aspiring professional players can take a definitive stride toward honing their skills and becoming better at the game.

“Is itemization the biggest problem for a lot of players? Yea, it is. Because the truth is, in Dota 2, Gold leads exist based on items. If you’re 10k gold up but you have 0 experience difference, then what the ultimate difference is the items that you buy with the gold that you have. So if you buy bad f*cking items, why does it matter if you have a gold lead.”

Arteezy offered a refreshingly direct piece of advice to aspiring players who dream of entering the professional Dota 2 scene. His suggestion was simple: emulate the strategies and item builds of accomplished players. Arteezy emphasized the importance of carefully studying and imitating the choices made by top-tier players, even if the rationale behind those choices isn’t fully understood. According to him, this uncomplicated approach is frequently effective, as successful players have honed their skills through experience and relentless practice.

“My biggest advice to anybody who is actually trying to play Dota 2 professionally is that they just literally go copy whatever the f*ck people do, because it’s simple, it’s probably not wrong. Even if they don’t understand. Just literally go copy whoever you think is good and copy their items, don’t need to really think. Just copy their items and most likely, you’ll have impact.”
