Aston Villa vs West Ham Match Analysis and Prediction

Aston Villa will be looking to return to winning ways when they host an in-form West Ham on Sunday at Villa Park in a fascinating Premier League fixture with kickoff at 19:30.

Villa have made an inconsistent start to the 2021/22 Premier League campaign and continues to be unpredictable this term as they have produced some impressive performance as it was in the case in the back-to-back wins against Manchester United and Everton, while have also produced really poor performances like it has been in their crashing three successive defeats that have seen them drop down the table.

Villa were impressive last season finishing in the 11th spot and were expected to pick up from where they left off last season and push on but that hasn’t really been the case for the most of their start to the campaign. The exciting transfer window that saw them bring in the likes of Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings raised the expectations at Villa Park, but it has not quite been the start the supporters would have expected as Dean Smith’s side have only collected 10 points in their opening nine matches and are currently in the 13th spot with six points clear off the relegation zone.

Smith’s side head into the match on the back of a 3-1 defeat last weekend, falling to an early second half 3-0 deficit before Jacob Ramsey stepped up and netted an outstanding late consolation. Dean Smith will want his side to bounce back this weekend but they face West Ham a side they have not beaten since 2015.

On the contrary, West Ham have made an excellent start to the season maintaining a top four spot since the opening weekend. A record a five wins, two draws and two defeats in the opening nine matches has left them in the fourth spot on 17 points in the Premier League standing, with just five points adrift off the top.

David Moyes’ side head into the Sunday’s  contest in a brilliant form having just lost one of their last six fixtures across all competitions picking up five wins in the process. They also are coming off a four-match winning streak including their 5-3 after penalties win against Man City following a close 1-1 draw in the EFL Cup match last Wednesday.

Moyes’ side have also been impressive on the road this season as they won three and drawn one of their four away matches so far and thus will enter the match as the favorites to bag the whole three points.
