Bollywood Star Evaded Police for 1,800km in Betting Case

A famous Bollywood actor has gone to great lengths to evade Indian police investigating an illegal betting app. Sahil Khan supposedly traveled nearly 1,800km in four days while trying to stay away from authorities before his eventual arrest on Sunday in Chhattisgarh in India.

Police eventually caught Khan after a 40-hour operation. The actor and fitness influencer – who has starred in Bollywood hits like Aladdin, Excuse Me, and Style – adopted a disguise, dressing in simple clothes with a scarf around his face. Police ultimately brought him back to Mumbai for questioning.

Other Bollywood stars – including Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Tamannaah Bhatia – are also being questioned by police. Like Khan, they promoted the Mahadev betting app or others linked to it, which were used to conduct illicit online betting activities. A total of 32 individuals are under investigation.

Khan supposedly promoted apps like Lion Book and Lotus 24/7, which are both linked to the Mahadev app. He also has a stake in the Lotus 24/7 app, according to police. Khan has, however, consistently denied any connection with the gambling platform.

The court has denied Khan’s anticipatory bail plea. Police are examining the bank accounts, mobile phones, laptops, and all technical equipment of the Bollywood stars, in addition to conducting interviews.
