Celebrate the World Cup with Golazo! 2 on Xbox

If you were to get us to pick a football sequel, we’re not sure it would be for that of Golazo!. Ask the same question in regards a World Cup love-in and we’d be of similar mind. But Golazo! 2 is here alongside a Super Cup 2022 offering.

The original Golazo! released on Xbox back in 2019 as the Purple Tree team went up against the behemoths at EA and Konami to deliver a slightly different, pretty quirky experience. We never expected to find a sequel – but what do we know!?

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S is Golazo! 2 – a game which follows on from the original Golazo! to try and deliver an arcade soccer experience to all. As you’d expect to hear, Golazo! 2 takes what players loved about the first game but builds on it. That means ‘Street’ mechanics are included this time around, as are ‘fields’. We’ll admit, we’re not entirely sure what Purple Tree mean by that.

Press blast oddities aside, if you’re looking for a little arcade football experience, Golazo! 2 could well provide it, especially if you’re one of those that have pushed away FIFA and are done with eFootball. This is as arcade as you can get.

Priced at £11.99, you’ll find Golazo! 2 on the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

But don’t think you’re done just yet for accompanying Golazo! 2 is Soccer Cup 2022. This is the Qatar World Cup in all but name – and obviously there’s no license kicking in here – but Soccer Cup 2022 brings together that Golazo! 2 base game with the Qatar International Stars DLC.

A host of teams are included, as are numerous stadiums and ‘Cup’ types. It may not have the same appeal as FIFA 23’s World Cup 2022 update will have, but it’s looking like a fun addition.

Included in Soccer Cup 2022 are…

  • * 58 national teams
  • * 10 international stadiums
  • * 12 street teams
  • * 6 street fields
  • * Street world tour
  • * International Cup
  • * World League
  • * European Cup
  • * Qatar Cup

The Soccer Cup 2022 download will set you back £13.24, which is a little strange when you consider that the Qatar International Stars DLC is only £0.79. It makes much more sense to us – at least cash-wise – to purchase Golazo! 2 and then the DLC separately. You’ll save money in the process.

In all, arcade soccer is back with Golazo! 2 and its weird little Soccer Cup 2022 friend. Let us know if you decide to play it.

Game Description:

Golazo 2 boldly recalls the glory days of the arcade soccer games, bringing back memories of cult classics we all know. Street mechanics and fields are added to this sequel to bring more depth to this game. Certainly a perfect game for people who are wary of football managers or complicated hard-core simulators. You just grab your pad, sit on the couch and play!
