CFR Cluj vs Slavia Prague Match Analysis and Prediction

Slavia Prague will be out to seek revenge against CFR Cluj when they meet in Romania for their Europa Conference League tie on Thursday.

The hosts claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over the Red and Whites in Czech Republic last week, and both teams are still in a strong position to progress from Group G.

Since they were beaten by Sivasspor on matchday two last month, CFR Cluj have won each of their last three matches across all competitions by a 1-0 scoreline, including the win over Slavia Prague last week.

Group G has now been blown wide open at the halfway stage with all four teams level on four points and with the same goal difference, including Sivasspor and Ballkani.

CFR Cluj, who played out a 1-1 draw with UTA Arad in the Romanian top flight last weekend, know that a victory on Thursday has the ability to boost their chances of advancing to the knockout stages in European competition for the first time in three years.

After enjoying an eight-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, Slavia Prague have since lost three of their last four games and failed to score in each of the defeat.

The 1-0 defeat to Cluj was followed by a 2-0 away loss to Sigma Olomouc on Sunday, a result that has seen Slavia Prague slip four points behind Czech First League leaders Viktoria Plzen, who have also played a game fewer.

Jindrich Trpisovsky’s side will be keen to improve their domestic form, but must first turn their attention to the Europa Conference League, with hopes of progressing from the group stage for a second successive campaign still alive.

Slavia Prague have struggled away from home across all competitions in recent months, winning just four of their last 17 matches on the road since the beginning of March.
