Chicago Bears Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams Resigns

Chicago Bears Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams Resigns

Alan Williams, the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, resigned on Wednesday afternoon according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapaport noted on Twitter that a statement from the team is coming soon. The resignation reportedly has nothing to do with his on-field coaching, but rather things that were happening off the field.

According to Jon Zaghloul, both Williams’s home and the Bears’ practice facility Halas Hall were raided in connection with an undisclosed incident. Halas Hall was raided today, while Williams’s home was reportedly raided after the Bears’ week 1 loss on Sunday September 10. A team spokesman said that there was no raid at Halas Hall.

Former Bears player Charles Tillman broke the news to the management of the team according to Zaghloul. According to Ian Rapoport, Tillman was not involved in the case.

Williams released a statement that mentioned his intention to step away from the game to take care of his family and his health. He noted that he plans to return to coaching after addressing his health.
