College Football Playoff Bracketology October 15

Each week teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Preseason rankings will not be taken into consideration here. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology October 15.

CFP Four

1. Florida State Seminoles (6-0)

Florida State breezed to a 41-3 win over Syracuse, who came into the game with a 4-2 record. The Seminoles continue to beat solid teams, as they already have wins over Clemson, LSU and now Syracuse on the year.

This week: vs. Duke Blue Devils ()

2. Washington Huskies (6-0)

The Huskies won a great game against Oregon that came down to the wire. It is one of the best wins of the college football season and helps propel Washington up the rankings. They pass the eye test and now have a big win under their belts.

This week: vs. Arizona State Sun Devils ()

3. Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0)

Ohio State had no problems blowing out Purdue 41-7. On top of the win, Notre Dame defeated USC, making their win over the Fighting Irish more valuable.

This week: vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0)

4. Oklahoma Sooners (6-0)

The Sooners were off this week, but stay in the top four after beating Texas last week. Oklahoma has a clear path to the Big 12 Championship if they can take care of business.

This week: vs. UCF Knights (3-3)

First Four Out

5. Georgia Bulldogs (7-0)

Georgia defeated Vanderbilt pretty easily. Their win over a ranked Kentucky team looks worse after the Wildcats lost to Missouri this week. The Bulldogs still look like one of the best teams in the country, but still need to play some better teams to prove it.

This week: BYE

6. Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0)

The Nittany Lions had a nice tune-up game against UMass that they won easily. Penn State gets a chance to improve their stock with a big showdown against Ohio State this week.

This week: at Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0)

7. North Carolina Tar Heels (6-0)

North Carolina got a big win over a one-loss Miami team in week 7. They have a few solid wins, but need a marquee win to really help them move up the rankings.

This week: vs. Virginia Cavaliers (1-5)

8. Michigan Wolverines (7-0)

Michigan certainly looks like one of the top four teams in the country. They defeated Indiana pretty easily this week. Unfortunately, the schedule hasn’t allowed them to beat anyone of note yet this season. Luckily, they play Penn State and Ohio State in the last three weeks of the season.

This week: at Michigan State Spartans (2-4)

Next Four Out

9. Oregon Ducks (5-1)

There is no shame in losing to Washington on the road. The Ducks have very limited margin of error the rest of the way, but could play themselves back into the CFP conversation.

This week: vs. Washington State Cougars (4-2)

10. Texas Longhorns (5-1)

Texas was off this week after losing to Oklahoma in week 6. They still have a marquee win on the road against Alabama helping their resume.

This week: at Houston Cougars (3-3)

11. Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1)

The Crimson Tide escaped with a narrow victory over Arkansas. Their loss to Texas still gives them no wiggle room the rest of the way.

This week: vs. Tennessee Volunteers (5-1)

12. Oregon State Beavers (6-1)

Oregon State defeated a ranked UCLA team in week 7. This is their second win over a ranked team this season, as they also defeated Utah a few weeks ago.

This week: BYE
