LCS 2023 Spring Split Bot Lane Power Rankings: Preseason

The 2023 LCS Season is fast approaching and it is time to start looking at all the LCS teams and their players to determine how good their Spring Split could be. This is the top lane Preseason Power Rankings and is the first of three different editions of this piece. The goal will be to look at each player in their respective role and see where they rank compared to the opposition. Here are the LCS 2023 Spring Split Bot Lane Power Rankings ranked from 10 to 1.

10. Spawn

While it was not a bad first few games in the LCS, it was still a bit surprising to see Spawn get picked up for 2023. He has played in the amateur scene for most of his career and spent the majority of the last two years in Academy. There is likely another level that Spawn can reach and surely that is what Dignitas are hoping for as youth was not the major driver for their team. He is currently considered the weak link but if he can build off his 2022 campaign and find consistency then Spawn will have at least earned an apology from this writer.

9. Stixxay

Stixxay’s play in 2022 would certainly be defined as fine but uninspiring. He was not much of a laning threat and had to fall back on his solid teamfighting abilities in order to make his contribution to the team. Luckily for him, huhi has found his way back to Golden Guardians and should be an instant upgrade. If the two of them can focus on fixing what was a below-average laning phase then they could be a nice surprise.

8. Tactical

Once upon a time, Tactical was looked at as one of the best NA prospects ever. Then he left Team Liquid for the 2022 season and struggled mightily. His awareness cost him and the TSM more than a few fights. For Tactical to make that next step he has to be more aware of where his team is when going in. It is truly a fatal flaw. If he can find the ability to restrain himself in certain teamfights then he has the chance to find his way back toward the top. That is certainly a big if at the moment though.

7. Neo

After nine games Neo was benched for Spawn. He was just not nearly as involved in significant fights and it felt like he was nonexistent at times. But, with Chime things may be a bit different. Chime loves to set up his teammates and will be excited to play with arguably the best ADC of his career. This should enable Neo to find more of that 2021 form where he was near the top of ADCs in the LCS. He was participating in roughly 71% of his team’s kills which is a far cry from the 58% in 2022. There is another level to his gameplay and TSM may be the perfect spot to find it.

6. Yeon

Yeon was the best ADC in Academy last year and it was not all that close. He was able to consistently win lane and use his leads to help out around the map. That Team Liquid Academy team was a well-oiled machine and Yeon was the engine that made everything run. This will be a major step for him in 2023. Lucky for him, CoreJJ will be his support. There is no doubt that he may have some growing pains but once he finds his stride there is a very good chance that he could be the next great NA ADC.

5. Doublelift

That is right, the GOAT is back for another round. It is also correct that he will be playing with Bjergsen again. The good parts for Doublelift end pretty quickly though. While he was near the top of the LCS in his last season, the ADC position has leveled up pretty significantly. Along with that, he will be trying to help Busio find his footing as the young support has never played in the LCS before. That signals that the duo will certainly need some time to adjust not only to each other but the level of competition as well. There is a world where things end in a ball of flames but that is seemingly where Doublelift thrives to rise like a phoenix. Does he have more magic in those nearly 30 year old fingers? It is time to find out.

4. Luger

Luger really showed up for CLG last year. They were not the most kill-heavy team but they won due to being a cohesive unit. When given the chance in teamfights, Luger was deadly. Add onto this that he was one of the stronger laners in the LCS and it is hard not to see Luger as one of the stronger ADCs in the LCS. He certainly needs to get better as CSing and trying to get a bigger lane lead to completely takeover games. With the team staying the same for a second season, Luger won’t have to focus on gelling with the rest of them. He will be able to push himself and focus on his individual play, which could be devastating for the rest of the LCS.

3. FBI

Year in and year out, FBI gets it done. Sure there are times when it feels like he could be doing more or that he could be a bit riskier. If he was going to be on a team to do that, this Evil Geniuses team could be it. Vulcan is (Spoiler Alert) arguably the best support in the LCS, Ssumday has come over with him and Inspired and jojopyun are the best mid-jungle duo in the LCS. This team will not need FBI to carry but if they play in a similar was they did with Danny then FBI could have his best season to date.

2. Prince

How FlyQuest were able to convince such an incredible player to come to the US must have a lot of zeros behind it. Good for Prince for going out and getting paid but there is no way he won’t want to do a lot more than just that in 2023. This FlyQuest team is by far and away the best iteration of the team in its history. The combination of Impact, Spica, VicLa, Prince and Eyla have the chance to really shake things up in the LCS. Prince will be leaned out quite a bit but it seems like he should be able to handle it. He was tied for the most kills in the LCK last season, had a 6.2 KDA, was the best laner (statistically) and had an insane CS per minute of 10.4. Prince is incredible and being able to watch him in the LCS on a consistent basis will be quite the treat.

1. Berserker

Berserker came into his own during the Summer 2022 Split and really found himself during the Playoffs. Cloud9 had high expectations for Berserker and all he did was help lead them to another LCS championship. Now that everyone has seen how great he can be, expectations will be raised to what may be an unobtainable level. The thing is, if there is someone on this list who could even exceed those, it is Berserker. He is great in lane and his positioning has only improved. With Zven being his support for another year, their chemistry should push them into the best bot lane conversation. Look for Berserker to have an outstanding 2023.
