Company of Heroes Developer Relic Entertainment Starts 24-Hour Countdown Stream

Relic Entertainment has started a live stream with a 24-hour countdown clock, teasing a big announcement for tomorrow.

Relic is best-known for creating the Company of Heroes series and also for developing Age of Empires 4. The studio is currently working on Company of Heroes 3 which has an approximate release date of late 2022.

On July 11, Relic started a live stream simply entitled “Standby…” with a 24-hour timer ticking. In the background, a slideshow of screenshots plays. These pictures are of in-game desert locations, including villages and military outposts. The landscape in these screenshots is quite arid and barren.

These are likely screenshots from Company of Heroes 3, which we know takes place during the Italian and North African theatres of World War 2. The desert screenshots are likely from the game’s North African locations.

As current footage of Company of Heroes 3 only includes the Italian theatre, it’s likely we will be getting an update on the North African portion of the game tomorrow.

Of course, this is speculatory and the live stream could be announcing a different Relic Entertainment project, though this prospect seems unlikely.

Relic has been gradually releasing new information about its upcoming RTS since its announcement in July 2021. Company of Heroes 3 will feature “the biggest single player campaign in franchise history” as well as a large number of factions available at launch. Everything in COH3 will be fully destructible also.

A new style of campaign map will allow the player a large amount of strategic autonomy as they control supply lines, troop movements and naval attacks on a sandbox-style level.

Company of Heroes 3 will be a PC exclusive and is predicted to launch in 2022.
