Devils Bring Depth and Size with Tomas Nosek Signing

Devils Bring Depth and Size with Tomas Nosek Signing

The New Jersey Devils added some veteran depth to the bottom-6 when they signed forward Tomas Nosek on Thursday.

The team announced the signing on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Nosek, 30, has never been an offensive threat. He totaled 18 points in 66 games last season and hasn’t topped more than 20 in a season in his career. However, he has never played more than 70 games in a season to this point.

What he does bring is some very solid defensive play. He had a 59.3% faceoff win rate last season which is more than adequate. Furthermore, he brings something that hockey men always rave about, size. He stands at a tall 6’3″ and weighs 205 lbs according to NHL.com. The Devils certainly got bigger with this signing.

Another storyline to follow here is whether Michael McLeod will get suspended following the investigation into the 2018 Canadian world junior championship team. McLeod is the Devils 4th line center, if he were to get suspended that role would be filled by Tomas Nosek. The Devils possibly signed him as an insurance policy.
