Does My Final Fantasy 7 Remake Save Give Me a Head Start in Rebirth?

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth hits the PlayStation 5 on Feb. 29, 2024. It features Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII leaving Midgar to defeat Sephiroth and take down Shinra. Rebirth is the second game of a remastered trilogy about the original 1997 Final Fantasy 7. The first title, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, was released in 2020. People wonder if their saved data from the game will transfer to Rebirth.

Players can’t transfer their progress from Remake to Rebirth, but they will receive exclusive rewards in the sequel if they have a save file from the first game. PlayStation interviewed Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director Naoki Hamaguchi on Sept. 14, where the staff member shared the information.

He stated player levels, abilities, and character builds cannot be transferred to the sequel because each title of the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy is meant to be a standalone game.

Again, players will still get bonuses if they have a save file from the previous game. Those with save data in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, or Final Fantasy 7 Remake Episode INTERmission can get the following items in Rebirth:

Final Fantasy 7 Remake save file reward:

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Episode INTERmission save file reward:

Players can only claim these items if their saved data is on the PlayStation 5.
